Pelosi Takes Gavel, Shutdown Shows Government Redundancy, Mexican President Acting Like President Trump, and much more for January 5, 2019

Pelosi takes gavel
The look on her face says it all. “You don’t do what I say, I’m coming after you.”
She’s now the 3rd most important person in the US and you can bet she’s going to milk it for everything it’s worth. USAF VIP aircraft home every weekend with those she considers her friends.
And here the people she chose for leadership positions:

Majority (Democratic) Leadership

This leaves no questions about her agenda as she’s selected only those who owe her a lot for getting what they want, as well as campaign funds. As he daughter said, “She’ll smile at you and cut your throat at the same time.”
A list of who’s heading up the committees in both the Senate and House is @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/116th_United_States_Congress#House_of_Representatives_2
A couple of highlights:
Senate:
Chuck Grassley @ Finance
Lindsey Graham @ Judiciary – a really big deal for the president
House:
Maxine Waters @ Financial Services – what a joke!
Elijah Cummings @ Oversight & Reform – ouch
Wanna bet not one of them will get a committee assignment worth spit?
Notice that Ocasio-Cortez voted for her.
Dems’ House takeover to usher in wave of Trump investigations, indictment and impeachment could follow @ https://gellerreport.com/2019/01/dems-house-trump.html/
They have no idea how to govern – just impede and obstruct.
And, to turn the tide:
And, despite what Schumer might want, stupid House bills will never even get to the floor of the Senate. Lord but thanks for the GOP gaining seats in the Senate!

The Truth About Democratic Morality
There is so much truth in this opinion piece that I have absolutely no idea where to start or how much to cite.
The word morality and Democrat make absolutely no sense. Planned Parenthood, one of the Democrat’s flagship supporters, was caught on video advising a 15-year-old girl to allow her boyfriend to beat, whip and gag her. How sick is that?
Tom DeLay exposed a Democrat secret memo in which Obama's DoJ's plans to legalize 12 perversions which includes bestiality, polygamy and make having sex with little boys legal. The secret memo mapped out how Democrats would attack churches who refuse to submit to having their constitutional religious liberty taken away.
Enough! I simply cannot go on with this. Just reading it was sickening enough.

What is Mitt Romney up to?
I don’t know who the author of this piece is but he certainly seems to have Romney nailed. It’s exactly what a power-hungry snake would do. Accept the support of the president and promise to support him while running. And then stab him in the back for one reason;
Planning to run for president in 2020.
What else makes sense.
The essential part of his strategy is to fill the anti-Trump void left by Republicans Bob Corker and Jeff Flake, who are both gone. Romney could not help but observe that nobody even knew who these guys were until they began attacking Trump. Suddenly they were on the news every night, on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and Sesame Street (just kidding about that last one).
Their public and biting criticism of a Republican president was like irresistible click-bait to news outlets which hated Trump and were only too happy to have Republicans spew their anti-Trump vitriol for them. They were in demand everywhere.
And sure enough, as I am writing this column this morning, the day after Romney's broadside, there's Romney being interviewed by everybody on Capitol Hill. So his strategy is working already. Romney looked exhilarated.

Report Shows Mueller, Intel Community Colluded To Frame Flynn
It doesn’t matter that he faithfully served this nation for 33 years. It only matters that he accepted a position to serve President Trump as his National Security Advisor.
Sometimes public silence can be deafening or, for that matter, misleading.
For nearly two years now, the intelligence community has kept secret evidence in the Russia collusion case that directly undercuts the portrayal of retired Army general and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn as a Russian stooge.
That silence was maintained even when former acting Attorney General Sally Yates publicly claimed Flynn was possibly “compromised” by Moscow.
And when a Democratic senator, Al Franken of Minnesota, suggested the former Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) chief posed a “danger to this republic.”
And even when some media outlets opined about whether Flynn’s contacts with Russia were treasonous.
Yes, the Pentagon did give a classified briefing to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) in May 2017, but then it declined the senator’s impassioned plea three months later to make some of that briefing information public.

Border agents fire tear gas at migrants near border on New Year’s Day
I’ll bet the organizers thought agents would have their guards down. Or someone told me they wouldn’t be working due to the government shutdown.
Surprise!
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a statement that the gas was aimed at rock throwers on the Mexican side who prevented agents from helping children being passed over the concertina wire. The agency says 25 migrants were detained.
Katie Waldman, a Homeland Security spokeswoman, said: “Once again we have had a violent mob of migrants attempt to enter the United States illegally by attacking our agents with projectiles. As has happened before – in this and previous administrations — our personnel used the minimum force necessary to defend themselves, defend our border, and restore order. The agents involved should be applauded for handling the situation with no reported injuries to the attackers.”

New video promoting border security features Chuck Schumer
Shove it back in their faces. It’s what the president does better than any other Chief Executive in the history of this great nation.
It’s why we elected him.
The video features rock-throwing mobs and depicts crime, drugs and other hazards pouring across the border.
Then it has Schumer on screen stating, “Illegal immigration is wrong, plain and simple.”
It finishes with a crowd chanting, “Build the wall.”

Troops deployed to border to build, upgrade 160 miles of fencing
Paid for by Pentagon, from Department of Defense's discretionary funding
This is going to drive Queen P and Chuckie up the wall
The Department of Homeland Security — which has had to cease some operations, although not border security — made the request for more troops to shore up the border with Mexico.
The request will very likely mean the deployment of more forces, including combat engineers and aviation units. There are now some 2,300 active troops on the border and an additional 2,100 National Guard troops.
The active-duty deployment was scheduled to be completed at the end of January, while the Guard troops are scheduled to remain until September.
A senior military official said the new request could include thousands more troops and that installing the fencing could take months. The Pentagon is now considering which units to send.

Pentagon Spokeswoman Quits Following Misconduct Allegations
Well, I’ll be. This is the first headline that indicates she didn’t resign because Secretary Mattis left or she somehow didn’t like the way things were going in DOD.
She previously faced allegations of misconduct after being accused of forcing her subordinates to run personal errands for her, including to the dry cleaners and the pharmacy, CNN reported in August.
Aha! Now I remember who she is. Another privileged insider who believes subordinates are there solely for her pleasure.
Charlie Summers, a former Maine senator and current deputy assistant to the secretary of Defense for public affairs, will be promoted into White's position beginning Tuesday.
He also is a Navy Reserve Captain with lots of experience in the field.

The Shutdown Proves How Redundant Government Is
Once again, President Trump comes up with a winner!
No, not that he’s stood up to the Dims and their socialist agenda.
Because he’s showing the American people just how bloated and redundant the U.S. government has become.
The D.C. media complex is not happy with the partial shutdown of the federal government. The government shutdown drags into the New Year, they tell us! It could go on for the rest of January, they cry! “Promise?” is the only thought that readily comes to my mind. It’s actually been quite peaceful with Congress gone and the bureaucracyon furlough.
But to be completely frank, while a complete shutdown of the federal government has some impish attraction both in reality and as a thought experiment, that’s not what’s happening. Still, if the shutdown extended into say February or March or beyond, how quickly would state and local government pick up the slack? What about private enterprise and community-based organizations? They’re certainly capable of doing so, but it would take some effort.
Though one wonders who would listen in on our phone conversations if the surveillance state were suddenly made redundant? But Christmas was last week, so that’s probably too much to ask.
Yet for all of the breathless commentary from Beltway media, the reality is that the federal government can’t even shut itself down properly . .
Unintended Consequences of the Federal Shutdown @ https://www.cato.org/blog/unintended-consequences-shutdown
IN THE name of securing the border and keeping out illegal immigrants, President Trump has opted for a partial government shutdown. Irony of ironies, that shutdown has paralyzed the nation’s immigration courts, shuttering many of them and allowing several hundred undocumented immigrants to dodge deportation orders each day the shutdown continues. They are among many hundreds of others whose cases will be postponed for years — or, in effect, indefinitely — for every day the closure lasts.

US Exits UNESCO – “Cesspool” of Bias
The entire United Nations is a cesspool. Not just UNESCO.
Bit by bit, President Trump has reduced our presence – and contributions - $10 billion in 2016. We are now on track to reduce that by 40%.
In her parting shot at the UN, Nikki Haley blasted UNESCO as a “cesspool” that is “among the most corrupt and politically biased agencies.” Both the US and Israel formally announced that they were departing in 2017, but the actual departure occurred on January 1, 2019.

Mexican President Sounding Like President Trump
He ran as a leftist but, along with some other major changes to Mexican politics, as making some changes that definitely copy what President Trump is trying to do.
One of them is to lower value-added and income taxes in more than 40 municipalities along the border with the USA.
Another is to create a lot of jobs to replace and repair the infrastructure in Chiapas. However, he’s talked about bringing 15,000 Hondurans to fill them. And that has caused an uproar among a group of activists known as Zapatistas. They say it’s their land and they don’t want outsiders taking their jobs.
To help combat illegal immigration into the U.S., Obrador will be focusing on more jobs in towns along the U.S.-Mexico border. More jobs means less incentive to leave or attempt illegal entry into the United States.
He’s also following another Trump example to help combat illegal immigration into the United States. And this one addresses the taxes on his people.
My question is simple; how long until someone puts a bullet into him?
He fired the presidential security detail, drives his personal car from his home, stands in lines at the airports, and travels with 5 unarmed aides. He says the people will protect him.

Gen Z Forgoing College to Attend Trade Schools
Golly. Gee whiz. That’s really tough for the college and university diploma mills. All that outrageous tuition and extra exorbitant fees down the tubes. [Maybe the same tubes these trade school graduates are going to unclog.]
For decades, technical and vocational schools have been falling out of favor, as more and more people opt for getting advanced degrees at four-year colleges. But recently, with the job market over-promising and underpaying, the trend has begun to reverse: States have started to reinvest in trade schools. And the generation inheriting volatile job prospects, a gig economy, and contract pay is following suit.
Generation Z—those who were born between the mid-1990s and early 2000s—are more often turning to trade schools to avoid the skyrocketing student debt crisis and hone skills that translate directly into jobs, from electrical engineering to cosmetology. While the power of trade unions has dwindled, and societal value still favors more elite professions, young students are finding themselves drawn to stable paychecks in fields where there’s an obvious need.

Getting close to retirement? Here are 6 key considerations
I wasn’t prepared when my retirement plans went awry. Are you?
The often-overlooked expense
Know your Social Security strategy
Evaluate income and tax strategies
Check risk in your retirement accounts
Have a cushion
Prepare emotionally
One of the hardest things that retirees face is the notion that their retirement account, which has been growing while they worked, will be going down in value over the course of retirement as they make withdrawals,” Herr said. “People can get really uncomfortable with that.”
