$137 Billion Missing, Military Discounts, and much more good stuff for January 30, 2019

President to Give SOTU Feb 5
The Queen Hag sent the letter today, Jan 28. Maybe because her poll favorability is plummeting?
Dear Mr. President:
When I wrote to you on January 23rd, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year’s State of the Union address.
In our conversation today, we agreed on February 5th.
Therefore, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress on February 5, 2019 in the House Chamber.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
NANCY PELOSI
Speaker of the House
Nancy Pelosi most unpopular national politician in America @ https://truepundit.com/poll-nancy-pelosi-most-unpopular-national-politician-in-america/
At 47% I think it’s 25 points too high

Pelosi’s First Legislative Initiative
House Resolution 1 is an outright attempt to massively affect the future of this Republic. I cannot believe that any American in their right mind would agree with it, let alone vote for it. Here are some of the features of the bill:
. Forces all states to allow all convicted felons to vote.
  • Requires all states to allow same-day voter registration, which leads to voter fraud.
  • Makes it difficult for a state to discover if a voter is also voting in another state.
  • Prevents states from limiting early voting.
  • Prevents states from limiting voting by mail.
  • Requires all states to provide free mail-in absentee ballots.
  • Criminalizes political speech that the government deems “discouraging” to voters who are statistically more likely to vote Democrat.
  • Takes redistricting away from elected leaders to give to left-leaning commissions.
For those of you who are not stuck with Dimocrap representatives like here in Nevada, write them and express your profound opposition to this garbage.

Federal Panel Of Judges Dismisses All 83 Ethics Complaints Against Brett Kavanaugh
Of course they did! The complaints were nothing but Libtard efforts to undo a valid confirmation.
"This whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election, fear that has been unfairly stoked about my judicial record, revenge on behalf of the Clintons, and millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups," Kavanaugh thundered. "This is a circus. ... And as we all know, in the United States political system of the early 2000s, what goes around comes around."
And some will complain because the charges were dismissed as the Circuit Cort has no jurisdiction over SCOTUS.

Furloughed Workers Come Onto CNN Show To Defend Trump
Show producers thought they had a slam dunk by inviting disgruntled workers onto the show to make pot shots of the president.
Oops.
Blackwell asked his guests, federal law enforcement officers Charles and Jill Gilbert, if Trump actually had their support. Both had continued to work without pay during the partial government shutdown.
Their response appears to have left Blackwell a bit stumped. As he continued to question them, and even tried to set them up to answer a certain way, they didn’t play along — which left Blackwell silenced at one point and struggling for words.
Charles made it clear that Trump has their support. He also explained why Trump had it and why they felt the wall was worth the sacrifice.
If its going to defend our country and keep illegals out, keep people from hurting my children, (people) that don’t belong here, yes, I’m all for the wall,’ he said. He added that he would support another shutdown in three weeks if it comes to that.”

President Trump Doesn’t Need Congress to Build the Wall
I’m certain he knows this. His staff had to inform him. So. Why is he playing this game with Pelosi and Schumer? Why demand that they give him funds to build a wall?
CRS, Congress’s in-house research arm, internally published a paper Jan. 10 titled “Can the Department of Defense Build the Border Wall?,” which The Daily Caller News Foundation has obtained. It says (emphasis added):
Another statute that authorizes the Secretary of Defense to assist civilian law enforcement with counterdrug activities may provide some authority for the construction of barriers along the border. 10 U.S.C. § 284 (Section 284) provides that the Secretary of Defense “may provide support for the counterdrug activities or activities to counter transnational organized crime” of any law enforcement agency, including through the “[c]onstruction of roads and fences and installation of lighting to block drug smuggling corridors across international boundaries of the United States.” …
Use of Section 284 would not require a declaration of a national emergency under the NEA. However, the DOD’s Section 284 authority to construct fences appears to extend only to “drug smuggling corridors,” a condition that may limit where DOD could deploy fencing.
Drug corridors” are not defined in law, according to a top congressional aide.
President Trump doesn’t just do things for no reason. There has to be something behind allowing the government shutdown and threats of more.

Is he telling the Dims that just because they won the House doesn’t mean they’re going to run rough shod over him. He’s showing them who’s boss.
And here’s a perfect example:
He can?
It’s all something to do with indexing capital gains taxes.

Trump Promotes Bible Literacy Classes at Schools
And he continues to poke the Dims in the eye!
Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!

Gotta love it!

Maxine Goes Off the Rails – Again
She’s not just unbelievable but clearly needs to be institutionalized.
Quite remarkable to see a sitting member of Congress go on live television and tell the president of the United States to “shut up.”
But her comments aren’t too surprising given her long history of making insane comments about the president.
She, Pelosi, and Ocasio-Cortez are the Dims gifts to the GOP

$137Bn Missing. What Do Gov't People DO?
So there's this shutdown going on, but normally, there are lots of busy little beavers in the Federal Government, spending, taxing, double-checking, recording, processing, prioritizing, and doing stuff.
Well, maybe not so much recording or double-checking
In fiscal year 2018, $137 billion was paid “improperly” by the federal government, according to a recent report. That number sums all the improper payments by what the government calls high-priority programs....
So remind me, Ms. Pelosi:  what the Hell do these people DO?
Well, I echo the bloggers question. And his link indicated that most of the government’s “high-error programs” are social welfare programs. LBJ’s great “War on Poverty” horror.
The second link gives a detailed breakdown of a few of the improper payment amounts.

I’m Scared For My Life’: Residents Vexed By Surge Of Migrants In Tiny New Mexico Town Near Border
Some people certainly believe there’s a crisis on our southern border.
Didn’t someone invite Queen Pelosi to go to the border to see for herself?
Think she’ll go?
Don’t hold your breath.
The changing migrant pathways are making residents of this former mining town, and the country that surrounds it, nervous. There’s not much here anymore. There’s a single store and gas station. There’s still a post office.
There are no schools in Hachita; the local kids are bused to Animas, 30 miles away. A former Catholic church with a stone steeple, itself a former school, is closed. There are more vacant dwellings than occupied ones.
Bonnie Denzler, who retired to Hachita with her husband three years ago, said she wakes up in the middle of the night several days a week by dogs barking next door. She’s heard talking outside near her house late at night, too.
I’ve heard stuff and it makes me wonder,” she said. “I don’t want to look outside, because you never what’s outside your window. It’s really disconcerting because you don’t know what’s going on.”

Tom Brokaw ‘Xenophobic,’ ‘Disrespectful’
Not the great NBC news anchor? How could that possibly be?
On Sunday’s Meet The Press, after claiming that Republicans do not want “brown grandbabies,” Brokaw said that he has long held the belief that Hispanics need to assimilate more.
I also happen to believe that the Hispanics should work harder at assimilation. That’s one of the things I’ve been saying for a long time,” Brokaw said. “You know, they ought not to be just codified in their communities but make sure that all their kids are learning to speak English, and that they feel comfortable in the communities. And that’s going to take outreach on both sides, frankly.”
snip
Latino Rebels said Brokaw’s comments were “xenophobic, disrespectful and insulting.”
We as a community are creating the new America right before your very eyes, Mr. Brokaw. Sorry if it doesn’t fit your perceptions of what America should be like,” Latino Rebels wrote. “That future is bilingual, bicultural, at times in English, other times in Spanish. Our community is defining this future. Not you.”
Other activists ripped Brokaw for his “racism,” “ignorance,” and “xenophobia.”

Almost every country in Latin America sided with Trump against Venezuela's embattled President Maduro
So what? Just what do they propose to do about it? Sit in their post suites and posture?
Send troops to support Guaidó?
Don’t hold your breath.
Russia, on the other hand, is actively getting involved with supporting Maduro. They’re taking good, long looks at Venezuela’s oil fields and the next thing you know will be supporting having people going back to work in them.

Denmark Building Border Fence with Germany
To keep out wild pigs. The four-legged kind.
Denmark is also easing hunting restrictions, "allowing wild boar hunts around the clock", and stepping up fines for livestock transport that has not been properly disinfected. Such hunting measures have also been introduced in other countries such as France and Poland.
Seems the darned critters are spreading everywhere. Wily and darned hard to hunt down. They also breed like rabbits.

5,000 Troops to Colombia
The press is so desperate for negative stuff on the president that they’re focusing on notes on a notepad.
But they ignored the other notation - “Afghanistan — welcome the talks,"
And both Russia and China are posturing about Venezuela.

Tankless Water Heaters vs. Storage Tank Water Heaters
I had 2 tankless heaters in my apartment in Vienna more than 4 decades ago. Even back then, they were impressive. No wait while cold water turned hot and very easy to control water temperature.
How They Work
Storage tank: Storage tank water heaters typically have a capacity of 30 to 60 gallons, but the most common size is 50 gallons. The capacity you want depends on the size of your household and how much hot water you use (your plumber can help with the calculations). Using natural gas, electricity, fuel oil, or propane, these tanks continuously heat water to keep a full store at the ready. That means you're paying to have hot water whether you need it or not.
Tankless: As their name implies, tankless, or on-demand water heaters, don't store water in a tank. Instead they heat water as it passes through the unit, using a heat exchanger to rapidly bring it up to temperature. (They run on electricity, natural gas, or propane.) Heating water only when you need it eliminates the standby energy losses you get with a storage tank.

Italy’s Practically Perfect Food
It’s like a culinary riddle: what is a food made of only three ingredients where the main processing is done by invisible workers; which can be eaten as an appetizer, condiment or dessert; and which is prescribed by doctors to cure ailments?
Need a hint? It’s also a dairy product… that can be eaten by the lactose-intolerant.
The answer: Parmigiano-Reggiano.
I don’t think I’ve ever had it.
Is Parmigiano a perfect food? I’m not sure. But right now, standing barefoot on a chilly London evening, it’s a taste of the things I love about Italy: its beautiful countryside and culinary passions, long traditions and little miracles. And for me, that’s enough.

How the Internet was Invented
I always thought Arpanet was the beginning. But, according to this, that was only for communicating between massive computers. Interacting between small, individual PCs was not yet possible.
Until...
If you had walked into Rossotti’s beer garden on 27 August 1976, you would have seen the following: seven men and one woman at a table, hovering around a computer terminal, the woman typing. A pair of cables ran from the terminal to the parking lot, disappearing into a big grey van.
Inside the van were machines that transformed the words being typed on the terminal into packets of data. An antenna on the van’s roof then transmitted these packets as radio signals. These signals radiated through the air to a repeater on a nearby mountain top, where they were amplified and rebroadcast. With this extra boost, they could make it all the way to Menlo Park, where an antenna at an office building received them.
It was here that the real magic began. Inside the office building, the incoming packets passed seamlessly from one network to another: from the packet radio network to Arpanet. To make this jump, the packets had to undergo a subtle metamorphosis. They had to change their form without changing their content. Think about water: it can be vapor, liquid or ice, but its chemical composition remains the same. This miraculous flexibility is a feature of the natural universe – which is lucky, because life depends on it.
And governments want to control it. Let’s just pray they don’t.

What to Change When You Move Into a New Place
Changing the door locks is the first thing – of course!
But, what else?
Check the door hinges.
Reset your garage door opener.
Check out and/or replace fire extinguishers.
Put new plungers in all bathrooms.
And finally … change the toilet seats!
