Stop Paying Members of Congress, Lying Liberal Media, and much more good stuff for January 20, 2019

GOP SENATORS Propose Bills To STOP PAY For Members Of Congress…
Force Congress To STAY IN D.C. Until Government Shutdown Ends
What an awesome move!
If other people aren’t getting paid — Coast Guard is not getting paid or other federal workers are not getting paid, we’re impacting our economy — why would congress-men and women and senators get paid?” Scott asked during a news conference. “I think it’s very important that we are subject to the same rules as everybody else and if you can’t pass the budget, you shouldn’t get paid.”
and
Sen. Joni Ernst told Ed Henry of Fox and Friends: It is “No budget, No recess” and it would force members of Congress to stay in DC until we have a budget done and until we have those appropriations bills done… There would be quorum calls to have our members on the floor twice a day until we work through the impasse.
Problem is, we all know Pelosi won’t even let these proposals get to a committee for consideration. They’re dead on arrival.
Senator & Congressman Introduce Bill To Withhold Payment From Representatives During Shutdown @ https://sonsoflibertymedia.com/senator-congressman-introduce-bill-to-withhold-payment-from-representatives-during-shutdown/

Gubbermint Shutdown? Not such a bad idea after all.
So Dubya has to feed pizzas to his Secret Service detail because they aren’t getting paid. Why does he need them? Can’t he afford to pay for his own security?
And fewer TSA agents are working? Do we really need so many to start with?
The only ones I truly feel sorry for are the Coasties. They put their lives on the line every day and deserve to be paid like all the other members of the uniformed services.
Rumor has it that some can be let go if the shutdown lasts over 30 days. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Impeachment Will Be Good for Trump
Think about it for a minute.
The brain-damaged Dims will dream up all sorts of “high crimes and misdemeanors” and will hold endless investigative hearings. There will be tons of television air time.
What will all that actually do?
Nothing!
Other than showing their inability to produce positive bills for the future of this country.
Trump will, Ă  la Muhammad Ali, "rope-a-dope" the Democrats during Articles of Impeachment arguments in the House, lying back, presenting little counter-argument – perhaps sporadically tweeting something incendiary to make Democrats angry and off balance, while playing them and the media for maximum effect with an occasional sucker-punch.
No businessman survives in New York City without being shrewd and ruthless, and, knowing he can't win in the House, Trump will astutely save himself for the later rounds.
The Senate – that's where he will make his move…
I don’t think any of it will get to the Senate.

Something’s Happening: Ginsburg Cancels Another Event to ‘Focus on Work’ Despite Missing Work @ https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/ginsburg-cancels-another-event-focus-work-despite-missing-work/
I just read an article where “an anonymous law clerk” claims she’s suffering from a severe case of pneumonia.
Ginsburg Cancels Appearance
This doesn't look good for Ginsburg.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has canceled a planned public appearance in Los Angeles set two weeks from now on January 29 due to her recuperating from lung cancer surgery....
One wonders which nominee has the stones exhibited by Kavanaugh during his lynching.

President Signs Law Opening Government to the Public
Means you can find non-sensitive information from your phone or electronic device without problems.
"The government-wide law will transform the way the government collects, publishes, and uses non-sensitive public information," said Sarah Joy Hays, acting executive director of the Data Coalition, a membership-based trade association that worked on Title II. "The OPEN Government Data Act...sets a presumption that all government information should be open data by default: machine-readable and freely-reusable. Our Coalition celebrates the congressional and Executive Branch allies, as well as the open data advocates, who made this possible."
Of course the media totally ignores it.

Are Pelosi/Schumer “Nebulous Namby Pambys”?
They now oppose what they once promoted for no other reason than to deny President Trump another win on border security and national defense.
The Democrats, and their flunkies in the “lame stream media”, are putting their partisan political considerations ahead of the security of our country. Their attitude of “resistance of Trump” policy, at all costs, seems to have boxed them in to where it makes it difficult for them to save face by capitulating with President Trump. The big losers are the citizens of the United States.
But it sure won’t come from the DimocRATs.

Pelosi suggests ‘paved roads’ for illegals to enter U.S and a ‘virtual wall’
The woman is totally out of it. I can’t even find the right words to describe her latest rant.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is clearly delusional.
While speaking to reporters, the California Democrat suggested paving roads near the southern border to make it easier for illegal aliens to enter the United States.
She also advocated for a “virtual wall,” arguing that it would be far more effective than an actual physical barrier to combat illegal immigration.
What the President is proposing is not the best way to protect our borders. We all support border security, and there is a better way to do it … The positive, shall we say, almost technological wall, that can be built is what we should be doing,” Pelosi said.
They have to make it sound like they are for some kind of enforcement, and so what they say they are in favor of is ‘smarter enforcement,’ just like the [Barack] Obama administration used to say their ICE strategy of ‘prosecutorial prioritization’ was really ‘smarter enforcement,’” she added.

Ocasio-Cortez to Join Maxine Waters on House Financial Services Committee
Can you image those two trying to be politically astute during a committee hearing? If there aren’t enough memes about them now, there will be tons more in the coming 2 years.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to sit on this committee as a freshman, and look forward to working under the leadership of @RepMaxineWaters!” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter late Tuesday. “Financial Services is one of just four exclusive committees in the House. It oversees big banks, lending, & the financial sector.”
She added, “Personally, I’m looking forward to digging into the student loan crisis, examining for-profit prisons/ICE detention, and exploring the development of public & postal banking. To start.”
The roles would afford the rising far-Left Democrats a powerful platform to pursue the sweeping reforms they campaigned on, even as some moderate liberals voiced concerns that intra-party clashes would be inevitable. Ocasio-Cortez, 29, has suggested that the nation’s largest banks should be broken up, and she shunned corporate donations during her House run last year.
Waters, the chair of the financial services committee, has vowed to counteract the Trump administration’s 2018 rollback of the Dodd-Frank legislation, which the White House called “disastrous” and overbroad.
Make no mistake, come January, in this committee, the days of this committee weakening regulations and putting our economy once again at risk of another financial crisis will come to an end,” Waters said last year.

The March the Media Won’t Cover
And the president sends them a message:
Today, I am very proud to welcome tens of thousands of families, students, and people of all faiths and backgrounds to our nation’s capital for the 46th annual March For Life.
This is a movement founded on love and grounded in the nobility and dignity of every human life.
When we look into the eyes of a newborn child we see the beauty in the human soul and the Majesty of God’s creation. We know that every life has meaning and that every life is worth protecting. As President, I will always defend the first right of our Declaration of Independence, the right to life.
During my first week in office, I reinstated the Mexico City policy. We have taken bold action to protect the religious freedoms of doctors, nurses, and charities, like the Little Sisters of the Poor. We issued a new proposal to prohibit Title X taxpayer funding from going to any clinic that performs abortions. We are supporting the loving choice of adoption and foster care, including through the support of faith-based adoption services.
And I am supporting the US Senate’s effort to make permanent the Hyde amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding for abortion in spending bills.
Today, I have signed a letter to Congress to make clear that if they send any legislation to my desk that weakens the protection of human life, I will issue a veto. And, we have the support to uphold those vetoes. Every child is a sacred gift from God.
As this year’s March For Life theme says: “Each person is unique, from day one”
That’s a very important phrase, ‘unique from day one.’ And so true.
I want to thank Americans who traveled all across the country to march for life. And, I especially want to thank so many young people who give us hope for the future.

'Don't Listen to LYING Liberal Media!'
War Vet Defends Nonprofit Border Wall Effort, Denies GoFundMe Refund
The media reporting that they were going to give the money back made no sense to me. We now learn is was just another fake story by a media dedicated to open borders and an influx of illegals to vote for Dims.
The flap escalated when Kolfage decided he would not be donating the money to the federal government but would instead transfer the funds to "We Build the Wall, Inc."
He says there are landowners along the border who will expedite the effort by allowing the wall to be built on their border-property rather than waiting on government bureacracy.
"The federal government won't be able to accept our donations anytime soon," he wrote on his "We the People Will Build the Wall" page. "We are better equipped than our own government to use the donated funds to build an actual wall on the southern border."
He went on to explain, "We are already taking action on identifying the most densely crossed areas of the border, soliciting affected landowners along the Southern border, and ascertaining the willingness of border landowners to provide no or low-cost easements on their property for wall construction."
Meanwhile, to help ensure the success of the border security project, "We Build the Wall" has assembled a board of directors, led by Kolfage.
Get that? Build on private property

CBO Suggests Raising Tricare Fees, Cutting Veteran Benefits to Slash Deficit
That’s the Congressional Budget Office. According to the site, it’s a “nonpartisan” agency of the House and Senate.
Isn’t it interesting that the minute the Dimocraps take over the House, this agency comes up with proposals to screw veterans and retirees?
In its Options for Reducing the Deficit: 2019 to 2028, the CBO laid out 121 opportunities for curtailing spending and raising revenue. These include raising Tricare enrollment fees for military retirees, instituting enrollment fees for Tricare for Life and reducing veterans benefits.
Just scanning through the recommendations can only lead one to believe that, contrary to Dimocrap pledges, this calls for historic cuts in government spending all across the board.

Army Watercraft M(ilitary)O(ccupational)S(Specialty) Being Eliminated?
How many even know that the Army has sailors? (I wrote about some of them in ‘Nam in “Mekong Ambush”)
And boats?
Other than a few harbor tugs some people know about, the Army has Landing Craft and 8 Reserve Watercraft Units.
According to an Army memorandum, Army Watercraft Transformation Through Divestment of Capability and Force Structure by Inactivation of Units, of which I can’t find a copy. The Army feels it’s time to eliminate its sailors and their equipment.
It does seem to make a whole lot more sense to have the Navy do the job.

Sexual harassment rampant at UN, survey results suggest
When you have an organization filled with people who are used to being waited on hand and food, this report should come as no surprise. Just another reason to kick them out of New York and for the US to withdraw.
Survey results released Tuesday show that a third of United Nations employees reported experiencing sexual harassment at the agency within the last two years.
According to the findings, some 33 percent of respondents reported at least one instance of sexual harassment in that time, but the figure rose to nearly 40 percent when they were asked about their entire career at the U.N.
Instances of sexual harassment included offensive jokes or stories, or inappropriate remarks about someone’s appearance or sexual activities. Other employees said they had been the victims of unwanted gestures or touching. Some 60 percent of reported harassers were men, with 25 percent being supervisors or managers and 10 percent being senior leaders, the survey said.

Top 9 things you can’t freely talk about in America
There was a time in this country when people could calmly and openly discuss just about anything under the sun. A time of exchanging views and widening one’s view of the world.
No longer. Politically Correct has taken over and extremists will go to any lengths to stop free speech on these subjects.
See for yourselves.

The world's most popular coffee species are going extinct.
And scientists say we are to blame
Of course it is. Mankind is always to blame for everything.
Savor that cup of coffee while you can. New research shows 60% of coffee species found in the wild could soon go extinct.
Researchers at Kew Royal Botanic Gardens in the UK warn that climate change, deforestation, droughts and plant diseases are putting the future of coffee at risk.
I can’t imagine starting a day without my two or three mugs of coffee.

Brazil’s Donald Trump
A politician who’s actually out to keep his campaign promises. After leaving the military, Jair Bolsonaro spent 27 years as a congressman and then ran for and won the Brazilian presidency.
Down in Brazil, President Bolsonaro ran a very specific campaign by promising to end support for Cuban doctors, get tough on Venezuela, crack down on criminals making life miserable in most of the country, and stop people from coming into the country.
So far, he is fulfilling his promise about Cuban doctors and isolating Venezuela.
