News That's Hard to Find for June 2, 2018

US Attorney’s Office questioned Comey about whether McCabe lied and committed a crime

Is the noose tightening? Is Session sending signals to subordinates that he is okay with them going after Obama administration officials?

What does this mean?

Although Comey’s interview is significant, it does not indicate that prosecutors have reached a conclusion, according to reports. A referral from the inspector general does not necessarily mean charges will be filed.

Lying to federal investigators is punishable by up to five years in prison.

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens Very Busy Before he Resigns

Not about to go out quietly. His opponents can scream and holler but can’t do a thing about it.

5 Pardons
Commutation of 4 sentences
Signed 77 new laws

Not bad for less than a full day.

Only 1 More State Needs to Ratify Equal Rights Amendment

Illinois just became the 37th to back ERA

Remember that? How many weren’t even born when all that hoofraw happened? I had no idea my home state, Nevada, had approved in in 2017.

Some minor problems though, 5 states have rescinded their original ratifications.

With calls to revive the amendment growing stronger amid the #MeToo movement, Democratic Rep. Carolyn Maloney plans to hold a congressional hearing on the ERA next week. It will be the first since 1984.

I wonder if that means they will have to start all over.

Pelosi Slams Jobs Report: ‘Strong Employment Numbers Mean Little’

Thank goodness, she just won’t shut up or go away. The biggest reason to get out and vote Republican in the 2018 midterms.

May’s jobs report shows that strong employment numbers mean little to the families hit with soaring new costs under the Republicans’ watch,” the California congresswoman said in a statement. “Republicans’ cruel, cynical health care sabotage campaign is already spiking families’ premiums by double digits and pushing millions off their coverage ... Big Pharma continues to hoard the benefits of the GOP tax scam, using their handouts to further enrich executives and shareholders instead of lowering prescription drug costs for seniors and sick kids. At the same time, the President’s reckless policies are exploding gas prices, wiping out the few meager gains that some families should have received from the GOP tax scam, as wages remain stagnant.”

City of Exiles

Paragraph after paragraph of tales of horror about those swarming the border at Tijuana seeking asylum in the US.

My only problem with this is the total lack of outrage at Mexico. That country allows these people to pass through – many officials gathering in their mordida along the way – and then does absolutely nothing for them when they get to the border. Many of their gathering spots are filled with gangs who prey upon them and local police do nothing.

The saddest part of all is the utter lack of concern Mexican official have for their own citizens. Why should they care about these outsiders when they don’t care about their own?

I’m not going to select a paragraph to show as I’ll let you read this for yourselves @ https://story.californiasunday.com/tijuana-city-of-exiles

Mexico Can Give Trump a Crisis by Not Stopping Drugs, Illegals

The stupid twit won’t admit that Mexico is doing little or nothing to stop them already! The only thing officials do is put their hands out for “donations” and then turn their backs to the flow of illegals and drugs.

As Jorge Ramos sees it, if this process of standing up to Trump means that the U.S. must endure a meth crisis to go along with the current opioid crisis and fresh hordes of MS-13 gangbangers, then so be it. Too bad, America! That’s what you get for having 25 million drug users and for electing Donald Trump to the presidency despite all but being directly told to vote for Hillary Clinton on Univision's airwaves.

North Korea Can’t Pay Hotel Bill in Singapore for the June 12 Summit

One presidential suite costs $6k per night. Just one of the details to be worked out for setting up the summit.

I don’t see a Trump Hotel so I wonder where the president’s going to stay.

This is How Kim Jong-un Lives

This is how the average North Korean lives:

Trudeau Sinks NAFTA Talks

Seems he doesn’t like the 5 year “sunset clause” VP Pence insists on. Claims it causes “too much concern” for businesses.

He says the visit was called off after he made it clear to Pence that no Canadian leader would sign a deal containing a sunset clause. Trump said in a statement Thursday that the US "has been taken advantage of for many decades on trade" and the message was conveyed to Trudeau that Washington will "agree to a fair deal, or there will be no deal at all." "FAIR TRADE!" he tweeted.

California Now Checks on How Many Times You Flush Your Toilet

Oh yeah, and how long you spend in the shower. Can The Flaky State get any weirder

Starting in 2022, California will limit water to 55 gallons per-person, per-day. By 2030, the amount falls to 50 gallons.

To put this into perspective, just taking one eight-minute shower (17 gallons of water) and doing one load of laundry (up to 40 gallons) is enough to exceed the 55-gallon limit. Taking a bath can use 80 to 100 gallons of water.

Sandy Hook New Jersey Realtor’s Sign Shows Up In ...

France.

6 years and 4,000 miles.

Perry Beneduce, manager of the company’s office in Wall Township, told the outlet he knows the sign came from a particular house in Brielle because that residence was the only Diane Turton waterfront listing at the time.

That’s one tough sign.

What Most of Us Don’t Know About Spelling Bee Contestants

So they’re smart and spell real good. And the runner-up misspelled “Bewusstseinslage.” [I used to be fluent in German and have no idea what it means. But, if it was spoken to me, I could’ve spelled it because, like Spanish, Germans speak every letter of every word.

Back to the main point. Here’s what blew me away:

Who are these kids?
Some of these students’ parents pay more than $200 an hour to have their prodigies coached by an expert, and the ages of competitors range from 8 to 15. So in the long-term, the real money is in coaching hopeful prospects later.
Not only do kids from every state in the U.S. compete, a number of other countries send their brightest young spellers.
Of the past 23 champions, 19 have had Indian heritage. Karthik is the 14th consecutive Indian-American to win the grand prize.

Why People Don’t Answer the Phone Anymore

Caller ID!

That’s my reason. If I don’t recognize the number I let them listen to the answering machine message. If they don’t want to leave one, I don’t want to talk to them.

Perhaps 80 or even 90 percent of the calls coming into my phone are spam of one kind or another. Now, if I hear my phone buzzing from across the room, at first I’m excited if I think it’s a text, but when it keeps going, and I realize it’s a call, I won’t even bother to walk over. My phone only rings one or two times a day, which means that I can go a whole week without a single phone call coming in that I (or Apple’s software) can even identify, let alone want to pick up.
