House Democrats, Republicans Secretly Negotiating Congressional Pay Raise, NASA Opens Space Station for Private Use, El Salvador President fires officials – via Twitter, and more good stuff for June 8, 2019

The Supreme Court could overrule an unconstitutional impeachment
The president is not above the law, but neither is Congress, whose members take an oath to support, not subvert, the Constitution. And that Constitution does not authorize impeachment for anything short of high crimes and misdemeanors.
Were Congress to try to impeach and remove a president without alleging and proving any such crime, and were the president to refuse to leave office on the ground that Congress had acted unconstitutionally, there would indeed be such a constitutional crisis. And Supreme Court precedent going back to Marbury v. Madison empowers the justices to resolve conflicts between the executive and legislative branches by applying the Constitution as the supreme law of the land.
Anyone with an ounce of smarts knows the Dims in the House are so stricken with TDS that they cannot understand their role in our Republic. I dare any one of them to name a high crime of misdemeanor the president has committed.
Just to remind them, here is a brief description:
The charge of high crimes and misdemeanors covers allegations of misconduct by officials, such as perjury of oath, abuse of authority, bribery, intimidation, misuse of assets, failure to supervise, dereliction of duty, unbecoming conduct, refusal to obey a lawful order, chronic intoxication, and tax evasion. Offenses by officials also include ordinary crimes, but perhaps with different standards of proof and punishment than for nonofficials, on the grounds that more is expected of officials by their oaths of office.
So, an impeachment resolution is voted upon and wins a majority of those present. The next step is to appoint those who will present the case to the Senate. The Chief Justice will preside and the entire Senate sits as the Jury – a 2/3 majority is needed for removal from office.
The question is, could the Chief Justice throw out the charges because they don’t meet the standard of high crimes and misdemeanors?
Probably and the House would then go nuts and try to impeach the Chief Justice.
Nancy Pelosi thinks Americans are too dumb to understand impeachment?
The Speaker, according to two sources with knowledge of the meeting, expressed concerns that the public still doesn’t understand how the process of impeachment would play out. She noted that in her time over the recess in California well educated voters didn’t seem to understand that impeachment proceedings would not necessarily result in Trump’s immediate ouster from office.

Palestinian bigwigs give themselves a 67% pay increase
Their people are living in ruins with no jobs and empty stomachs. But, as in every dictatorial government, they live in the laps of luxury.
Leaked documents showed their monthly salaries were increased in 2017 from $3,000 (£2,360) to $5,000 (£3,930).
UN Middle East peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov said such moves "defy logic and anger people" when Palestinians were struggling with economic hardship.

House Democrats, Republicans Secretly Negotiating Congressional Pay Raise
Do they think the public is so stupid they won’t find out?
Of course not. That’s why they’re trying to do it in secret. They know the uproar that’s coming when people realize what they’re trying to do.
"Apparently making $174,000 a year, which is more than three times the average American’s salary, just isn’t enough for these socialist elitists," the email said.
The NRCC has not responded when asked if it was aware of the McCarthy-Hoyer agreement, notes Politico.
You just watch. They won’t give it up. They’ll wait until the public’s attention is riveted elsewhere and will try to sneak it in as a rider to a bill the public thinks is important. Something they think the president will be loath to veto.

Brazil’s Bolsonaro doubles down on monetary union with Argentina
The start of a SAU? South American Union. The two countries link up their money and then break down border barriers to include free trade.
They’re already part of Mercosur, or Mercosul, officially Southern Common Market, is a South American trade bloc established by the Treaty of Asunción in 1991 and Protocol of Ouro Preto in 1994. Its full members are Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Venezuela is a full member but has been suspended since December 1, 2016. Wikipedia
As is natural in a relationship between partners, there is dialogue on macroeconomic stability as well as discussions about reducing risk and vulnerability, and the strengthening of our institutions.”
A spokesperson for Argentina’s Ministry of Finance said on Thursday that the two governments were negotiating the creation of a joint currency that could be called the “real peso,” combining the names of Argentina’s peso and Brazil’s real.
We are working on that in the medium to long term,” the spokesperson told Reuters, during a visit to Buenos Aires by Bolsonaro and Brazil Economy Minister Paulo Guedes.
According to Brazilian newspaper O Globo, Bolsonaro and Guedes told Argentinian and Brazilian business leaders at a meeting in Buenos Aires that they would like to explore the idea.
Another case of a non-politician looking for unusual way to improve things for his country.

Dems Considering Giuliani Probe
Is there no end to the duplicitous goals of going after anyone who dares to stand up to them?
President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani may soon face the wrath of Democrats on Capitol Hill as they contemplate investigating him for work he has done overseas.
According to The Daily Beast, the focus of such a probe could revolve around foreign political consulting work Giuliani has performed while he has worked for Trump and whether it interfered with America's political efforts.
Giuliani also has been investigating accusations that former Vice President Joe Biden, now the leading Democratic candidate for president, may have improperly meddled in a case involving his son Hunter while Biden was in office during the Obama administration.

NASA Opens Space Station for Private Use
Why not? They’re turned to private companies for the boosters and even the capsules to take personnel, supplies, and equipment to the station.
Today, NASA executives announced that the space agency will open up parts of the International Space Station to more commercial opportunities, allowing companies unprecedented use of the space station’s facilities, including filming commercials or movies against the backdrop of space. NASA is also calling on the private space industry to send in ideas for habitats and modules that can be attached to the space station semi-permanently.
A new interim directive from NASA allows private companies to buy time and space on the ISS for producing, marketing, or testing their products. It also allows those companies to use resources on the ISS for commercial purposes, even making use of NASA astronauts’ time and expertise (but not their likeness). If companies want, they can even send their own astronauts to the ISS, starting as early as 2020, but all of these activities come with a hefty price tag.

El Salvador President fires officials – via Twitter
A politician taking notes from President Trump.
Luis Assardo, a journalist and researcher based in Guatemala, said Bukele is embracing Twitter to gain recognition and speak directly to everyday Salvadorans.
He does not need the press,” Assardo said. “He does not need any kind of intermediary to deliver the information that interests him.”
So far, he’s fired the daughter of the ex-president and told the head of the commission not to hire a replacement. He also fired other members of the outgoing political party.
Trump, perhaps recognizing another Twitter fan, sent the following tweet on Saturday: “The United States stands ready to work with @NayibBukele to advance prosperity in El Salvador and the hemisphere. Congratulations President Bukele on your inauguration!”

Men in Black Four!
What the hell happened to the “men” part?
And how much originality is left from the original, especially without Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones?
The movie, which hits cinemas from next week, also stars Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson, who featured in “Men in Black 3”.

CIA Director Haspel part of cabal trying to oust Trump?
Did he know when he appointed her?
As far as I can tell, this article is the first time “Crossfire Hurricane has come up.
What’s that?
the melodramatic code name for the FBI/CIA spy operation on candidate Trump and his early presidency — was run for the FBI by then-FBI Director James Comey, his deputy Andrew McCabe, Special Agent Peter Strzok, and a few others.
Then-CIA director John Brennan ran it for the CIA. Brennan had to have help, but who was it? A lot of evidence points to the CIA’s then-chief of station in London in 2016-2017, and now the Director of Central Intelligence, Gina Haspel.
Hunh?”
Again, did The Donald know this when he nominated her?

Clarence Thomas says, ‘I Don’t Have A Lot Of Stress, I Cause Stress.’
And he’s not about to retire in spite of rumors.
Thomas agreed with the Court's 7-2 ruling that Indiana was free to require medical facilities to provide a dignified burial or cremation for children aborted under their watch, but dissented from the Supreme Court's decision not to rule on the part of the Indiana law that banned abortions done on the basis of gender, race, or disability.
Thomas cautioned that if the Court side-stepped the issue permanently, it could open the door for abortion to be used as a tool of racists and eugenicists, in line with the wishes of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger and other early, prominent abortion activists.
Thomas agreed that "because further percolation may assist our review of this issue of first impression," the Court was smart to pass on ruling on the Indiana law, The Hill reports, but the Court can't ignore the issue forever.

Guess who was there in Trafalgar Square

It makes no difference what country they’re in, they’re all pigs!

Airplane of the future?
'Flying-V' was developed by the Delft Technical University in the Netherlands and KLM is funding the design
It has the same wingspan as existing planes and is named after the iconic Gibson Flying-V electric guitar
The aircraft would be able to carry up to 314 passengers in the V-shaped layout of the craft its designers claim
Passenger cabin, cargo hold and fuel tanks to be integrated in the design which uses 20 per cent less fuel
Amazingly realistic artist concept pictures. I remember a lot of discussion about v-shaped aircraft back when I was a kid in the 40s and 50s. I even saw some of them flying over Los Angeles. But, it’s only been in recent years with far more advanced controls that they’ve become more realistic.
How long until this or similar ones roll out to actually fly?

Would you eat genetically modified food if you understood the science behind it?
I’ve seen a lot of comments about GMOs where people are trashing them as being dangerous and inedible.
Yet, if one truly understands, almost every food we eat today has been genetically engineered in the centuries since they were first farmed. Wheat was once nothing more than a wild grass early farmers learned to harvest. How did they learn to dig up and eat root vegetables like carrots and onions. Potatoes. Corn. Tomatoes. All of it far different from the original.
Same with farm animals. The turkey we put on our plates today is totally different from with wild ones. Name a breed and it’s been altered from the original over history.

Summary: While genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are considered safe by an overwhelming majority of scientists, only about one third of consumers share that view. A team of psychologists and biologists set out to discover if consumers' attitudes would change if the public understood the underlying science better. The short answer is 'yes.'

Coffee not as bad for heart and circulatory system as previously thought
You bet this one caught my eye. I can’t make it through a morning without at least 8 cups of coffee = Truvia and non-dairy, no calorie creamer.
Drinking coffee might keep us up at night, but new research has given us a reason to sleep easy knowing that the popular drink isn't as bad for our arteries as some previous studies would suggest.
The research from Queen Mary University of London has shown that drinking coffee, including in people who drink up to 25 cups a day, is not associated with having stiffer arteries.
