Interesting News and Stuff for August 3, 2018

President Trump Gives His $400,000 Salary to Repair Military Cemeteries — Liberal Media Ignores the Story
Of course they’ll ignore it. Or call it a publicity stunt.
White House sent their spending report to Congress. This was in it:
Instead of taking his salary, Trump donated all $400,000 to the Department of the Interior where it will be used for construction and repair needs at military cemeteries!”
Media gave this no coverage.

Barack Obama’s Endorsements Leave Out Every Woman Veteran Running for Congress
Of course it does. There’s no way he wants middle-of-the-road Dims elected.
Former President Barack Obama has endorsed 81 Democrats in 13 states around the country — yet snubbed women who are military veterans running in the 2018 midterm elections.
Five of the 15 military veterans on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) Red to Blue list are women, including former Navy pilot Mikie Sherrill running in New Jersey’s 11th congressional district.

Trump’s Tight Labor Market: Businesses Increasingly Hiring Disabled Americans
Seeing more and more signs saying “No experience necessary” as they seek to filpositions. I wonder if this means some homeless people will get a chance to lift themselves out of despair to find employment,
Most recently, the tight labor market helped reintegrate retirees back into the workforce. Breitbart News has also reported extensively on how the tight labor market in Trump’s “hire America” economy has brought new job opportunities for Americans with disabilities and helped lower the demographic group’s unemployment rate.
There has also been history-making wage growth for American workers in the construction industry, the garment industry, for workers employed at small businessesblack Americans, and restaurant workers.
The tight labor market has also secured higher wages for overtime workers and high-paying, coveted white-collar jobs for American teenagers. Most recently, Breitbart News reported that the construction industry has had to recruit women to take jobs at higher wages rather than hiring illegal aliens. A Chick-Fil-A in California has even raised wages to $18 an hour to retain workers.

Kavanaugh Hearings in September, Vote Certain in October
Wednesday, on the “Hugh Hewitt Show,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said the Senate hearings for President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh will begin in September, with a vote likely in October.
More Dim Senators have agreed to meet with him, ignoring Schumer’s directions not to. Protestors try to stop meetings between he and Senators by massing outside their offices – they just hold the meetings elsewhere.
He will be approved before the 2018 midterms.

Setting the Fed on the Right Path
I haven’t seen anything in the news on this. But, it’s big. President Trump can make huge changes in the Federal Reserve by the appointments he makes to the Board of Governors.
Cnbc.com reports: The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve is required to have seven members. It has three. Two of the current governors were put into their position by President Trump. Two more have been nominated by the president and are awaiting confirmation by the Senate. After these two are put on the Fed’s board, the president will then nominate two more to follow them. In essence, it is possible that six of the seven Board members will be put in place by Trump.
The Federal Open Market Committee has 12 members and sets the nation’s monetary policy. Seven of the 12 are the members of the Board of Governors. Five additional are Federal Reserve district bank presidents. Other than the head of the Fed bank in New York, who was nominated by the president, the other four can only take their positions as district bank presidents if the board in Washington agrees to their hiring. One of these, the Fed Bank president in Minneapolis, Neel Kashkari, is already arguing for no further rate increases.
This is big. It means positive changes can be made to:
Regulation
Economic Growth
Bottom Line The president can and will take control of the Fed. It may be recalled when the law was written creating the Federal Reserve the secretary of the Treasury was designated as the head of the Federal Reserve. We are going to return to that era. Like it or not the Fed is about to be politicized.

U.S. Military Announces Greater Resources for Troops in Africa
Another damn losing proposition just like our quagmire in Afghanistan. We have no business in places with such massive corruption and religious hatred. We should just shut down Africa Command and remove all our troops from there.

Iranian Warships Gathering in the Straits of Hormuz
An extremely dangerous situation. Iranian leaders are threatening to cut off the supply of oil shipped through this narrow channel. The slightest wrong move and a conflagaration could quickly follow.
The Iranian navy is increasing its presence at the Strait of Hormuz, sparking concerns that Tehran is showcasing its ability to block international access to the world’s most important oil transit point.
We are aware of the increase in Iranian naval operations within the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman,” U.S. Central Command spokesman Capt. Bill Urban said Wednesday. “We are monitoring it closely, and will continue to work with our partners to ensure freedom of navigation and free flow of commerce in international waterways.”
Iran’s navy has been assembling its warships at the northern opening of the strategic waterway. The move comes as tensions have ratcheted up between Tehran and Washington over the Trump administration’s decision to terminate its nuclear deal and levy more sanctions against Iran.
Iranian leaders have threatened to shut down the strait if the country is blocked from exporting crude oil.

How the US military will identify remains from North Korea
We should be proud of the efforts made to identify those lost in our military actions around the world and from many different eras.
WHERE WILL THE REMAINS BE TAKEN?
The remains will go to a lab in Hawaii run by the military agency that identifies missing servicemen and women from past conflicts. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency identifies remains from battlefields around the world. The agency also has a lab at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Nebraska, though the remains arriving this week will be analyzed at Hawaii's Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
The agency also sends DNA samples for analysis to the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Many families who are awaiting the return of their loved ones from the Korean War have already submitted DNA samples to the agency to help in the identification process.

California Politicians Responsible for Suffering from Wildfires
The eco-freaks in the 70s came up with the National Environmental Policy Act and the Endangered Species Act that have resulted in endlessly time-consuming and cost-prohibitive restrictions and requirements that have made the scientific management of our forests virtually impossible," McClintock went on to say. "Timber sales from the federal lands have dropped 80 percent in the intervening years, with a concomitant increase in forest fires. In California alone, the number of sawmills has dropped from 149 in 1981 to just 27 today."
Tey stopped logging – resulting in the lost of many jobs, and allowed the forests to become overgrown. Once healthy trees suffered to become fire-prone. Healthy trees rebound quickly after fires.
After 45 years of experience with these environmental laws – all passed with the promise they would improve the forest environment – I think we are entitled to ask, 'How is the forest environment doing?' All around us, the answer is damning. These laws have not only failed to improve our forest environment – they are literally killing our forests," McClintock concluded.
Are there solutions? Yes.
Impose stiff penalties for people who cause wildfires either through neglect or pyromania;
Allow for the clearing out of dead trees and bushes above environmental groups' concerns for "dead plants over live people;"
Pass new laws for "wide-enough" barriers between hillside homes and wild brush to stop the spread of flames and sparks;
Provide funding to purchase more planes and helicopters to help with firefighting.

Stupid People Start 90% of California Wildfires
This is not really news. Many of the current fires around the world are caused by human stupidity. In Nature, lighting starts fire in a cleansing process. Authorities do their bet to stop them, not to protect Nature, but human habitations built where they were never meant to be.
SFGate.com links to a 2017 study published by the National Academy of Sciences that notes:
Public dialog and ongoing research have focused on increasing wildfire risk because of climate warming, overlooking the direct role that people play in igniting wildfires and increasing fire activity. … Human-started wildfires accounted for 84% of all wildfires, tripled the length of the fire season, dominated an area seven times greater than that affected by lightning fires, and were responsible for nearly half of all area burned.

Charlie Sheen Broke – Only has $10 Million
The poor baby! How will he survive?
Those documents come as part of Sheen’s battle over child support for four of his children who come from his marriages to Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller. Sheen’s daughters Sam, 14, and Lola, 13, come from Richards, whom he married in 2002; his twin sons Max and Bob, 9, come from Mueller, whom he married in 2008.
As People reports, Sheen claims he can’t make his monthly payments because he’s “been unable to find steady work, and [has] been blacklisted from many aspects of the entertainment industry.” Sheen says he’s had a “significant reduction” in his earnings, and is in a “dire financial crisis” with less than $10 million to his name.Court documents state Sheen cannot pay for his pool service and a gardening service.
