The News You Won't Easily Find for May 18, 2018

US Surgeon General Steps up for Fellow Passenger on Airplane

Someone asked if there was a doctor on board the flight. Turned out there was.

No details on what it was all about although the report is that the unnamed patient is doing just fine.

White House Announces Trump Is Donating His Presidential Salary To Veterans Affairs

And the Lame Street Media either won’t report it or will belittle it – like some posters here.

President Donald Trump donates his salary every quarter to a charitable cause, and this quarter, POTUS will be giving his salary to the Department of Veterans Affairs to specifically support their caregiver programs.

The White House announced the donation at Thursday’s press briefing.

These brave men and women have given so much to our country,” Sanders said. “In keeping with his campaign pledge, the president donates his salary on a quarterly basis to further important projects. Today, the president is proud to donate his 2018 first quarter salary to the department of veterans affairs to support their caregiver programs.”

Acting Secretary of the VA, Robert Wilkie, accepted the check, saying, “The president’s gift underscores his promise to do all that he can for veterans, which includes supporting those who care for our veterans, not just those of us at VA, but the husbands, the wives, the families and the community caregivers who are out there, day in and day out, making life easier for those who have borne the battle.”

Wilkie added that he is “deeply thankful to President Trump for giving me the opportunity to support our veterans and his generosity in supporting them.”

I know how much this means to America’s veterans.”

GOP Senators Have Fix to End Logjam — Work More Hours!

Seems 16 of them are willing to give up the time they usually spend smooching their constituents.

Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) organized a news conference Tuesday to highlight a letter he and 15 other Republicans sent to McConnell. They want McConnell to keep the Senate in session on nights and weekends — and even cancel the August recess, if necessary — to break Democratic obstructionism.

IN addition to Perdue, also signing the letter were Senate Republicans Joni Ernst (Iowa), James Lankford (Okla.), Ted Cruz (Tex.), Dean Heller (Nev.), Mike Lee (Utah), Ron Johnson (Wis.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Roger Wicker (Miss.), Steve Daines (Mont.), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), Ben Sasse (Neb.), Thom Tillis (N.C.), John Neely Kennedy (La.) and Mike Rounds (S.D.).

Will McConnell go along with it? The Dims will scream and holler as they’re vulnerable in the mid-terms. 26 of them are facing re-election and need to spend time – and lots of $$$ - back home. Losing just a few seats could really swing the Senaye to a bigger GOP majority.

Mitch McConnell Is Just a Clerk at Heart

I loved the context of this article as I’ve never seen a better description of the Senate Majority Leader.

Mealy–mouthed, multi–chins like McConnell are the reason Trump won in the first place. Their continued failure to grasp that fact explains the trouble they face in November

One must admit this is nothing but a hit piece against the GOP and the president, but it does bring up some good points @ https://canadafreepress.com/article/mitch-mcconnell-is-just-a-clerk-at-heart#When:22:52:00Z

AG Sessions May be Washington’s Slyest Fox

I’ve seen comment after comment calling for him to either resign or the president to fire him. So, why doesn’t the president give him his walking papers?

Seems he’s doing a whole lot of things the president wants him to.

Here’s Why Jeff Sessions May Be Washington’s Slyest Fox has a whole lot of reasons to keep him.

Let Jeff Sessions Do His Job and Protect the Homeland also has some specific reasons, most about immigration and efforts to speed up the general process.

The AG’s self-described “zero-tolerance” approach is very exciting for pro-enforcement advocates and is sure to have huge deterrence effects. It could also be the move that cements Sessions as the foremost immigration policy leader in President Trump’s Cabinet, just as he was in the Senate. Or so it should..

He’s being a great immigration officer and we should at least let him do his job at that.

Mueller’s Tour in ‘Nam

Turns out that, despite his family background, Butterbar Mueller actually served as a Marine platoon leader and showed courage, receiving a Purple Heart and the respect of those who served under him.

Mueller, among others, was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery; his troops say it was well-earned, along with their respect. “The minute the shit hit the fan, he was there,” one said. “He performed remarkably. After that night, there were a lot of guys who would’ve walked through walls for him.”

Unlike Kerry with whom he played lacrosse and hockey at St Paul’s Prep School, he actually got down in the mud with his troops.

Maybe all the negative hype about him is a bit overdone. I guess we’ll just have to wait to see his final report to the Deputy AG.

Nancy Pelosi More Weird Than Usual at Weekly Press Conference

One has to painfully watch this video to truly appreciate the article. I’m not even going to copy the written summary as it doesn’t have the same impact as the video.

Why Would We Want to Have Nancy in Charge?’ @ https://www.lifezette.com/polizette/why-would-we-want-to-have-nancy-in-charge/

Conservatives MUST get out and vote to keep a GOP majority in Congress.

And here comes Maxine Again

Maxine Waters Says That Trump’s Hotel Is Unconstitutional, “Very Criminal Looking”…

MSNBC host Chris Hayes asked, “Is it problematic to you that the president and the Republican Party use and promote this hotel, the president is so clearly benefiting from?”

Well, absolutely,” Waters said. “And you know, questions have been raised about that. And I think one organization that looks into this kind of thing….have, you know, asked for investigations into whether or not there’s a violation of the Constitution, or whether or not laws have been broken because obviously, it appears that the president is, you know, helping to direct business and he’s making money on it, and that there are those who are coming from foreign countries who are glad to comply with this request to stay at the hotel because they think they’re going to create some favor with him.”

And so, it’s all very criminal looking,” Waters added.

Disclosure Forms Show Trump Earned More than $40 Million from his DC Hotel

So what? It’s being run by his son and he’s filled out the paperwork that keeps him from directly gaining from it. Of course, this article is nothing more than a left-wing attack on the president.

No surprise.

Israel Sends Humanitarian Aid to Gaza Strip, Hamas Turns It Away

To the Israel haters, this article comes with plenty of links and backup.

Two large Israeli trucks filled with humanitarian aid supplies were turned away by Hamas at the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, The Jerusalem Post reported. The aid was intended to provide relief for medical shortages following days of violent conflict on the Israel-Gaza border.

In addition to 53 tons of medical equipment set to be transported into Gaza this week via the crossing, the increased Israeli aid included more than 14,000 units of intravenous infusions, 40 medical basins, 20 medical examination couches, 25 infusion stands, 85,000 disinfectant pads and 12,500 bandages,” The Jerusalem Post reported.

Almost half of US families can't afford basics like rent and food

This CNN video and article whines about how nearly 51 million American households are on the verge of starvation and homelessness.

Many of these folks are the nation's child care workers, home health aides, office assistants and store clerks, who work low-paying jobs and have little savings, the study noted. Some 66% of jobs in the US pay less than $20 an hour.

$800 per week before taxes. I guess that’s why Pelosi called the recent tax cuts bread crumbs. When one only makes $3,200 per month before taxes, a hundred or so more in the pocket just doesn’t seem like much to someone who lives in a million dollar plus compound, has lots of servants [making their miserable wages] and rides around in limos and private jets.

Notice that the CNN experts don’t suggest anything to improve it.

Man Who Created Show About Sexual Harassment Suspended For Sexual Harassment

Every time one turns around, another report comes along.

A lesbian, Morgan claims Schulman—whom she refers to in the video by the pseudonym “Jack” — pushed her to “reevaluate” her sexuality and have sex with him. In another video, posted May 14, Morgan alleges that a female production assistant, “Carol,” got her drunk and took advantage of her. The next day, she claims, Schulman invited her into his hotel room, where he allegedly propositioned her.

Five Movie Franchises That Just Won’t Go Away

They just don’t seem to go away. Far from great acting, but they have plenty of what it takes to have people go to see them. Here they are:

Tremors – you know, those big slugs burrowing around and popping up to eat people.
Sniper - # 8 should treat us to another nail-biting splurge of killings
Kickboxer – I know you just can’t wait to watch an aging Jean-Claude Van Damme teeter his way through another endless round of showing us what a super hero he is.
Mean Girls – this one I can’t say anything about because I never, ever watched it.
Bring it On – Another I’ve never watched.

Canadian Veterinary Chains Stops Declawing Cats

Say the procedure is inhumane.

I love cats almost as much as dogs and could never see why they should ever have their claws removed. They’re felines and claws are an important part of their makeup.

"Declaws have become quite a common thing and, in fact, people think of them as just a common procedure. And my veterinary generation created that problem," said Danny Joffe, a medical director for VCA Canada who works at a Calgary clinic.

"We got very proficient at doing the procedure, especially as better pain medications and anesthetic protocols came along. We thought we could do it safely and fairly painlessly.

"What we've learned is that, not only is that wrong, it's inhumane."
