The News You Won't Easily Find for May 14, 2018

The world is getting greener.

Heresy! Impossible! CO2 is destroying the world as we know it!

Not according to this article.

As carbon dioxide levels have risen, the planet’s green vegetation has increased by 14 per cent.

So far, the benefits of global greening have been greater than expected, while the costs of global warming have been smaller than expected and the price of reducing carbon dioxide emissions has been higher than expected. That price is falling more heavily on poor than on rich people. The evidence suggests that this imbalance will persist for most of this century, perhaps longer. It is time for a rethink.

Number of the Week: 11.9 million barrels per day (b/d), 220% higher The Energy Information Administration’s Short-Term Energy Outlook reported: “EIA projects that U.S. crude oil production will average 10.7 million b/d in 2018, up from 9.4 million b/d in 2017, and will average11.9 million b/d in 2019, 0.4 million b/d higher than forecast in the April STEO.”

In 2009, the U.S. Crude Oil Production averaged 5.5 million b/d. The 2019 estimate is 220% higher than 2009. In 1977, Haapala was under a government contract to evaluate the models used to predict the world would run out of oil and the US out of natural gas around 2000. He reported that the models were incapable of making such predictions, and why. Global climate models have similar problems. His report disappeared in the bureaucratic science of the time.

We are fortunate that independent oil and gas producers did not believe government models and predictions.

Black Support for Trump Reaching ‘Danger Zone’ for Democrats

I've come to totally distrust polls and am solely posting this for the heck of it. 16% of black males approve of Trump. This is a big deal? It is when you are told that he only one 10% of black votes in 2016. Do you think the economy might be playing a role in this?

Here's the real news:

The RNC has vastly out-fundraised the DNC. The RNC raised $157.7 million so far this year and has $42.4 million in cash on hand. By contrast, the DNC has raised just $79 million in total over the same period, and just $10.1 million in cash on hand.

"It's the economy, stupid!"

An Impotent Congress

This should actually say, "An Impotent Senate." Since Senators are no longer directly answerable to their home state legislatures, they tend to grandstand for their own political gains. Arcane rules allow individual Senators to block action on a wide variety of matters. Therefore, little if anything ever gets done.

Consider how the Senate typically deals with controversial bills today. Instead of a deliberative and unpredictable process in which its members debate competing ideas, party leaders direct a stage-managed process designed explicitly to create the appearance of genuine deliberation on the Senate floor without its unpredictability. Doing so may make life easier for members in both parties. But that convenience also makes the minority more powerful than it would otherwise be if the Senate adhered to its rules. And, paradoxically, it also makes it easier for the leadership of both parties to limit the ability of individual senators in the minority from participating in the legislative process in the first place.

The article then presents several example of Senate dysfunction @ http://www.libertylawsite.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/AdobeStock_120430261-1024x680.jpeg

GOP Trying to Pass Farm Bill

Many claim H.R. 2 is "controversial because it requires all able-bodied adults between the age of 18 and 59 to work at least 20 hours per week in order to qualify for food stamps. [There is no summary of the bill yet but the full text is at the above link]

The bill was introduced in April and reported out of committee May 3. The report is @ https://www.congress.gov/congressional-report/115th-congress/house-report/661/1?overview=closed

I know that somewhere out there are posters who are willing to dig through the verbage to come up with nuggets of what it's all about. I would love to read them.

Is North Korea's Nuclear Program Dead?

Makes one wonder. As this article points out, NK has spent decades seeking to become a nuclear power, turning down investments and starving its people.

Why give it all up now?

We are supposed to believe that upon achieving nuclear capabilities, as well as developing intercontinental ballistic missiles, North Korea has had a sudden change of heart because it wants investments and food?

Regardless of what readers make think of Kim Jong Un's mental state, he is a logical man who makes rational decisions. Do not confuse his reign of terror for madness. It is the opposite. The devil is cold-hearted and cunning.

The complex has collapsed and Kim's nuke program with it.

Is McCain Finally Losing It?

Ex-Senator who called for gun control gets 5 years in prison for weapons trafficking

Hypocrisy, thy name is Democrat.

Former California Sen. Leland Yee was sentenced to five years in prison on Wednesday for accepting bribes and trafficking in arms.

Throughout Yee’s political career, he was a staunch gun control advocate, the Washington Post reported.

White House Leakers Try to Explain Why They Do It

I personally think leaks are next to treasonous. But, they happen in every administration and almost everywhere in government and industry. We just don't hear much about them from sources the media finds favor with. How many from the Obama administration did the media report?

So, why do they do it? Here are some "unnamed" explainers.

The most common substantive leaks are the result of someone losing an internal policy debate,” a anonymous senior administration official told Axios. “By leaking the decision, the loser gets one last chance to kill it with blowback from the public, Congress, or even the president.”

Working in the White House to “kind of like being in a never-ending ‘Mexican Standoff,” the aide reportedly said.

Everyone has guns (leaks) pointed at each other and it’s only a matter of time before someone shoots. There’s rarely a peaceful conclusion so you might as well shoot first,” the official added.

Other officials attributed the spilling of administration secrets to “personal vendettas” or “to make sure there’s an accurate record of what’s really going on” in the West Wing.

New Yorkers Have to be Told Not to Feed the Rats

You gotta be kidding me! They're really that dumb.

Seems they'd rather blame de Blasio for not having the trash picked up more often. Some residents say the move only shows how City Hall is a Mickey Mouse operation.

Which it surely is.

Minnesota Somalis: You’re old and we are taking over

Yeah. It's coming and many stand idly by while it's happening. Don't mistake for an instant that they mean what they say.

Get with the program, miss. We are here to stay. We never left our Somali heritage or culture. That’s what America is missing. Please stop forcing us to your ways. You’re old and have very old ideas. Get with the program. I’m trying to have my son to be the first Muslim black governor of the state of Minnesota in next 20 years. He’s gonna run as a Democrat. Oh, and on those upgrades at Cedar Riverside. They better give us those upgrades and changes if the Mayor wants to earn our votes. Or else we can always get another Mayor next time around. You see how being an American works? I told you lady please get with the program because Somalis are the latest addition to black folks.

Why should we assimilate? Do you know how stupid you sound? Guess what? We’re here to stay and will transform America for the better. Get that through your thick, ignorant skull. You need to see a doctor. It’s inevitable that Somalis will be taking over and there isn’t anything you can do about it. Again, what’s wrong with Somalis taking over? It is inevitable! This land doesn’t belong to either of us. It is our time to populate it and rule it. Go back to Europe or wherever you’re from if you don’t like it.”

"American People Have Enough of Trump-Bashing."

You will never, ever guess who said this!

Yeah, right! The same so-called comedian who trashes Trump every night on his show.

Since Trump was elected president, Kimmel has spent much of his comedic airtime attacking Trump, his family, and members of his administration. Prominent examples include describing Trump as “mentally ill” and mocking his wife Melania Trump’s Slovenian accent.

So, I don’t know, I don’t know how much focus there will be on that. I think people have had an ass-full of Donald Trump, and I feel like the upfront is a time to look within and make fun of ourselves,” Kimmel said of his comedy routine for the annual event that sees major advertisers gather to purchase airtime on networks, like ABC, ahead of the summer and fall TV seasons.

Kimmel went on to say that although his upcoming routine will not be a “Trump-free zone,” it will not be so focused on events in and around the White House.

Well, I can’t imagine that it will be entirely Trump free, but I’m not planning on that to be my focus,” he said. “Already I’m seeing a lot of other things to point out, to make fun of.”

What?

I'm gonna have a heart attack.

Is Wikileaks Founder Going to be Turned over to UK? US?

He's been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy for six years.

In March, the Ecuadorian government cut Assange’s phone and Internet contact with the outside world and barred his friends and supporters from visiting him.

The Ecuadorian authorities explained their action by stating that “Assange’s behavior, through his messages on social media, put at risk good relations this country has with the UK, the rest of the EU and other nations.”

Putting Assange on trial for espionage is a priority according to AG Sessions.

Securing the US/Mexico Border is a Monumental Task

How many of us have actually seen the border? When I was stationed in Texas many years ago, I frequently visited border towns. I'm sure a lot has change since then. I've recently crossed the border in California so have seen what's there. But, much of the rest is a big blank.
