Barr meets Huber, Skoolies, Hemp sales soaring, and a lot more for March 10, 2019

There’s No Border Emergency
It’s a 5 minute video that shows the truth of what is going on around our southern border. There are hundreds of miles wide open without even a measly barbed wire fence.
Douglas Coleman, Phoenix division drug enforcement special agent said, “We every day stare at the biggest, most violent and nastiest organization, the Sinaloa cartel.”
While on the frontline of the border security battle, sheriffs like Lamb make one thing clear: This border is a humanitarian crisis intertwined with the cartel exploiting people on a daily basis. The amount of arrests him and his team make are proof that a border crisis exists.
These are human beings that are being trafficked. They’re being exploded by the cartel, and that’s the message we are trying to send to the American public,” said Lamb.

What Happens to All Those Beads After Mardi Gras?
'
One picture after another left by revelers who don't seem to give a darn about the mess they’re leaving.
Biodegradable beads may not be available yet, and recycling efforts are still small, but several hundred Mardi Gras celebrations since the late 17th century have taught New Orleans a thing or two about cleaning up. As the festivities wind down, a small army of some 600 workers descends on the French Quarter, leaving the area so free of debris that it’s difficult to tell the city had a million houseguests a day before.
A 2014 analysis of how much income Mardi Gras brings to the city concluded that it generates more than 2 percent of New Orleans’s $21 billion gross domestic product. Cleanup-related expenses tallied in the study included more than $230,000 for workers, about $825,000 for equipment, plus other expenses, which brought the sanitation grand total to almost $1.5 million.

Skoolies
Who on earth has heard of these before?
We’ve all heard of motor homes and travel trailers. I’ve even seen converted school buses before. But, never anything like this.
Skoolie life is built on the idea that happiness and desk jobs are like oil and water. A fast-growing branch of the van life community, many of them millennial parents, is trading its homes and jobs to live in school buses in rebuff of the so-called American dream. Skoolies believe in a life free of picket fences, 401Ks, and 30-year mortgages—all the securities their baby boomer parents coveted. “We knew early on we wanted a different life than our parents,” says Amanda Smith, who lives on the Giant White Bussalo with her family of five. “Our parents just worked nonstop every day. We didn’t want to do the ‘you get married, buy a house, have babies, and pay off your debt the rest of your life.’”
I just wonder where they get the money to live on.

Another Trump Judge Was Just Confirmed And The Left Is FREAKING OUT
Senate Confirms 37-Year-Old To Lifetime Seat On U.S. Circuit Court
The Senate voted Tuesday to confirm Allison Jones Rushing, 37, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, making her the youngest federal judge in the country.
The vote was 53 to 44 with every Dimocrap who could manage to vote was against her.
The president must be grinning a mile wide.

Despite California’s long drought, trillions of gallons of rainwater wastefully flowing into sea
Golly, gee! This is considered news? It happens every time it rains because of poor planning, lousy management, and politicians who don’t have the faintest idea of what they’re doing.
LOS ANGELES -- California’s rainy season could be the wettest in 40 years, but experts say the state is missing a major opportunity by failing to collect the trillions of gallons of storm runoff that currently flows wastefully into the ocean.
In February alone, an estimated 18 trillion gallons of water fell on the state. In urban areas and coastal cities, 80 percent ends up diverted into the ocean, as Los Angeles and other cities built long concrete channels for flood control. The Los Angeles River, for example, is a 51-mile-long canal as wide as a football field. Almost none of the water seeps into the underground aquifer.
And then, the undergrowth with spring up in huge amounts, only to dry out as the year passes. So, come Fall we will see wildfires. Lots of them.

Special Prosecutor John Huber Meets with Attorney General Bill Barr
This is really a big deal. Remember that Huber has been tasked with looking into to FISA warrant abuses.
Seems he’s done nothing since Sessions left and failed to file the report he was required to make to Congress.
The GOP Congressmen gave Huber a deadline of January 21st to respond to the following demands:
The total number of witnesses you have interviewed, including names of specific individuals where possible, and the number of witnesses remaining to be interviewed;
The total number of FISA applications reviewed;
The total number of documents reviewed, including their substance and format (e.g. emails, meeting notes, phone logs, etc); and
A description and account of your coordination with DOJ IG Michael Horowitz”
Huber has done nothing since Jeff Sessions appointed him in the Fall of 2017 to investigate FISA abuses.

Not Like Any Steel Pot I Remember
I’ve seen the current ones our troops are wearing and realize how far they are away from what I wore.
So, this new thing looks like something right out of Star Wars or a lot of other scifi movies.
The Army's new Integrated Head Protection System (IHPS), designed to replace the Enhanced Combat Helmet (ECH) used by close-combat units for the last two decades with with "100 percent greater blunt impact protection," Lt. Col. Ginger Whitehead told Military.com.The IHPS was originally scheduled for a battlefield debut in 2020.
n addition, 3rd BCT soldiers are picking up the Modular Scalable Vest version II and Ballistic Pelvic Protection, as well as new eyewear with transition lenses, Col. Stephen Thomas told Army Times. The MSV is part of the Soldier Protection System and is the Army's next-generation Personal Protective Equipment system.
And bullets and shrapnel still find ways to do harm to the vulnerable human body.

From chess sets to model jets, foreign leaders lavish gifts on Trump White House
They include a portrait of a smiling Trump, sporting a red necktie, painted on mother-of-pearl panels from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas; a $935 fountain pen from Germany's Angela Merkel; and a map of the United States by 18th century French geographer Louis Brion de la Tour from French President Emmanuel Macron.

The most expensive gift bestowed on the Trump family came from Xi, a dinnerware set that includes an image of Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, worth $16,250. The two leaders met at the Florida property in 2017, and are expected to do so again in coming weeks to discuss a possible trade deal.
The headline makes it sound shady and as if he’s the only president to be given lavish gifts.
Every president has received them.
Every.
And they all go to the National Archives or other government agencies.
Trump doesn’t get to keep any of them.

New heights but no high - why hemp sales are soaring
This goes along with several other articles I shared over the past month or so. It appears that industry has finally found a way to open the door to the use of an extremely useful product.
Unfortunately for hemp, being a near-relative and lookalike of marijuana has meant that it has always been tarnished by association.
So while hemp is a very useful crop that can be turned into everything from clothes to shoes, paper, animal feed and building insulation, the cultivation of it was banned in many countries during the 20th Century.
Many years ago, I found it growing wild in gulleys around corn fields in Iowa. I bet there’s a whole lot of that still around.

Senate Republicans May Go 'Nuclear' to Fill Massive Judicial Vacancies -
Current Rules Would Take 32 Years!
The Senate is expected to confirm the 34th Circuit Court judge of Trump's presidency next week and they have three other nominees ready. If they are approved, President Trump will have filled roughly 20 percent of the Circuit Court seats in the country.
"The committee is working to put judges out on the floor and as soon as they come to the floor the leader's making it a priority to move them," said Sen. John Thune (R-SD), McConnell's top deputy. "It'll be a high priority for the foreseeable future. I mean, it's one of the things we can do that we don't need the House's help with."
Democrats are attempting to fight the issue, even stating some liberal judges will not retire as long as Trump is president. Republicans argue Democrats are obstructing the process by delaying President Trump's nominees. For example, Naomi Rao -- who's on track to fill Brett Kavanaugh's seat on a key appeals court -- is facing opposition over past writings about date rape and her views on abortion.
It will be interesting to see if McConnell has the juevos to go ahead with this plan.

When Will America’s Crumbling Roads, Bridges, Dams and More Be Fixed?
We send billions of dollars to broken down foreign governments that hate our guts and we can’t find the money to fix things to save American lives?
What kind of politicians have we elected?
Let’s see some high mucky-muck driving in his or her post limousine end up in the hospital for hitting a massive pot hole or going off a broken bridge. I wonder what their attitude would be then,
There’s been wide bipartisan support for updating and fixing America’s infrastructure, despite a lack of a more comprehensive solution. President Donald Trump has even proposed a $1.5 trillion project to update and fix the national infrastructure and create jobs.
He’s also encouraged lawmakers to send him a clean bill with a solution.
I think we have a real opportunity to address the vital question which is improving our infrastructure, creating jobs and strengthening the economy,” said Sam Graves (R-Mo.), ranking member of the Transportation and Infrastructure committee. “I think there is widespread agreement within the House, within the Senate and [within the] White House that we do need to act. We saw the president urge Congress to send him bipartisan infrastructure legislation that he can sign into law. And more importantly, most of our constituents want this as well.”
Things can get done if they will only remove the regulations that keep from doing them.

Trump to 'Financially Strangle the Cuban Regime'
A way to avert military intervention in Venezuela?
Sounds like a good idea to me.
The administration is looking into adding to the list of companies that can be sued for controlling property nationalized by the government under Title III of the LIBERTAD Act.
We have made very clear to them that the intent of our enacting Title III, and of looking to do so in the future, is to essentially create a completely inhospitable foreign investment environment for Cuba, to pressure it economically for its actions in Venezuela,” the official added.
We know for a fact that there is nothing the Cuban regime fears more than Title III,” the official continued. “They recognize it would be disastrous for them and they've gone on a diplomatic offensive to try to prevent it.”
The companies exposed are the seaports and a lot of the hotel operations are from expropriated properties,” Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., told the Examiner. “And that’s the lifeblood. That and remittances is how they generate all their hard currency in Cuba.”
Seems to be a good plan. Let’s so just how quickly congressional Dimocraps jump in to try to stop it.

Pentagon may tap military pay, pensions for border wall
This is an absolute lie without an ounce of fact. Military pay and entitlements are in laws that do not allow for “unused” funds that could be moved elsewhere.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon is planning to tap $1 billion in leftover funds from military pay and pension accounts to help President Donald Trump pay for his long-sought border wall, a top Senate Democrat said Thursday.
Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., told The Associated Press, “It’s coming out of military pay and pensions. $1 billion. That’s the plan.”
Durbin said the funds are available because Army recruitment is down and a voluntary early military retirement program is being underutilized.
Durbin is full of bull excement.

Functional Medicine more Effective than Conventional Medicine
"Functional medicine is a new way of thinking about disease that gets to the root cause," he explained, "It doesn't focus so much on the symptoms as the question of why you have those symptoms."
Dr. Hyman said like many patients, once Cindy was treated by a functional medicine doctor, she quickly got much better.
"In a very short period of time, she not only lost a lot of weight but was able to end her seizures, to recover her energy, end her brain fog and to be engaged in her life again, which is not only something we see routinely in functional medicine, but often something traditional physicians are surprised at, because these are patients that they've tried for decades to try to help and mitigate symptoms. Well, we don't go for symptoms, we go for causes."
Seems to make a whole lot of sense.
Step Number One: Re-Vamp the Diet
Step Two: Fix the Gut
Step Three: Lower Stress

47 tips to keep you away from my ER.
Way too many to post here so I’ll just try to pick some unusual ones.
11. Don’t separate fighting dogs with your bare hands
20. Turn off your oxygen tank before lighting up.
39. Don’t fry bacon naked.
45. Never wear flip-flops to run, walk your dog or climb a ladder.
Makes one wonder about people’s brainpower to read these.

Care to Rent a USAF Aircraft?
Got a birthday party or a special anniversary you want to make like no other?
Simple. Locate you nearest AF Base and ask them to have a B-2 or F-16 fly over. One not enough? Send a squadron.
The Defense Department calculates the hourly reimbursement cost for each branch's aircraft — rates used to charge nongovernmental organizations or civilians for events, such as flyovers at sporting events.
The Air Force plane with the highest rate is the E-4B airborne command center, which costs $73,123 an hour.
Heavy bombers, such as the B-1B and B-2A, are also really expensive, likely based on fuel and crew costs.
In October, the Defense Department comptroller released the latest reimbursement rates for each service branch's planes and helicopters.

US Gets Its Tush Whooped in War Games Against China and Russia
It takes more than a couple of years to make up for 8 years plus of abuse and neglect.
"In every case I know of, the F-35 rules the sky when it's in the sky," Robert Work, a former deputy secretary of defense and an experienced war-gamer, said Thursday. "But it gets killed on the ground in large numbers."
Our overseas bases lack the protection needed against all-out onslaughts.
Our communication systems would be crippled.

A Night in France
Nothing to worry about. Just the fourth day of Muslims rioting in Grenoble.
Any excuse to fight back against authority?

Feral Hogs Running Wild in Houston Suburbs
Dimocruds in disguise?
The hog epidemic is a problem particularly in Texas; the state’s estimated feral hog populations are in excess of 1.5 million, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Some guy specializing in catching the beasts said he’s already caught 306 this year.
Catching hogs. Catching them. To do what, release them later? Pretty soon they’ll be hiring super-duper SWAT cops to run around Houston suburbs with bolt action sniper rifles to kill them because no one can be trusted with a gun except cops. Lethal removal. But still not enough.
In order to keep up with the rapid propagating hog population in the South, everyone with a gun would have to be shooting hogs day and night. But they don’t want to do that, so instead, feral hogs will chase and gore little children, threaten adults, destroy crops, make back yards nasty with feces and cause massive health problems, and cause more erosion than can be imagined in a horror movie.
The Dim gun control nuts should hate that. Using guns to kill beasts that are doing immense damage to our country?

CNN Due to be Hit with Lawsuit for $250 million by Covington Student
Not only is this kid going to be set for life, a whole bunch of ambulance chasers are going to be drinking lots of bubbly.
Lawyers for Covington Catholic High School have already sued The Washington Post for $250 million, and it looks like CNN is next in line for its reporting on Covington student Nick Sandmann and his confrontation with fake Vietnam veteran Nathan Philips.

Lawyer L. Lin Wood discussed his decision to sue CNN with Mark Levin during an interview that will air on Fox News Channel’s “Life, Liberty & Levin” Sunday night:

The Details of H.R. #1, “For the People Act”
Rep Dan Crenshaw (R-Tex) is trying to alert everyone of the evil of this bill put forward by Pelosi and her minions.
But, let’s not just listen to him. Check it out for yourselves.
Here’s the overview from govtrack.us:
To expand Americans' access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, and strengthen ethics rules for public servants, and for other purposes.
What a pile of male bovine excrement!
I can’t even guess how long it is but you can actually download a .pdf of it from the above link.
Thank goodness this piece of garbage will never make it through the Senate.
I did a Google search for “Viewpoints on H.R. #1” and got 208,000 results in .40 seconds. Seems a lot of people have lots to say about it.

The World's Biggest Debt Slaves: Americans Wimp Out In Just 11th Place
I thought we’d be in 1st place by a wide margin. But, according to  Bank for International Settlements we’re not.
Switzerland is #1 with Canada 6th. Mexico only has a 16% of GDP debt.
Americans are infamous for their eagerness to spend money they don’t have. A whole industry has grown up around making that happen, from payday lenders to the government that guarantees or insures a large portion of the mortgages so that lenders and investors don’t have to carry the risk. Consumer debt is turned into asset-backed securities, from government-guaranteed mortgage-backed securities to subprime-auto-loan-backed securities whose top tranches carry an AA-rating or even a AAA-rating.
It all worked out. But then came the moment when Americans deleveraged, mostly by defaulting on their debts, particularly their mortgage debts, which triggered the US Financial Crisis and then the Global Financial Crisis. The world should have learned a lesson, but no. Who has learned a lesson? American consumers whose household debt in relationship to US GDP has continued to decline.

What is Russia’s Reaction to SpaceX?
They’ve had total control to access to the International Space Station for 8 years since NASA retired the space shuttle. They’ve also received huge chunks of US cash to send people and supplies to the station.
What will happen when SpaceX means they will not longer get that money?
One of the big questions surrounding the first launch of SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft was how the Russians would react. They have held considerable sway in the International Space Station partnership by controlling access to the orbiting laboratory since the 2011 retirement of NASA's Space Shuttle. So far, the Russian response has been one of throwing small bits of shade here and there but trying not to be too obvious about it.
Snip
Certainly this is not the kind of thing one expects to hear too often from Russia about its venerable space program, but this kind of criticism is not unique. Former cosmonaut Valery Ryumin recently said the leaders of Roscosmos are "blowing more smoke than doing anything substantive." And another space editor said the Russian space program was on the cusp of entering the Dark Ages.
At the end of his interview, Lukashevich raises a good question. Until now, Russia has largely either blamed others for its problems in space or overlooked them. Is Russia going to face up to its issues or continue to bluster and entirely squander its remarkable, six-decade legacy of pioneering spaceflight?
