News That's Hard to Find for July 27, 2018

61 Seats the GOP Must Hold to Maintain a Majority in the House of Representatives
Here is the math:
Republicans currently have 154 safe seats. Adding 61 holds and 3 flips from the Democrats to those safe seats will result in 218 Republican seats in the 116th Congress.
The Democrats currently have 181 safe seats. Adding 11 holds and 25 flips from Republicans to those safe seats will result in 217 Democrat seats in the 116th Congress.
The article then goes on with a lengthy district-by-district assessment. There’s one thing the article fails to consider – the current attempt by leftist Dims to destroy themselves and their party – and the possibility that President Trump is going to force usually self-destructive GOPers to actually get out and campaign.

Trump’s EPA Outpaces Obama in Cleaning Up Hazardous Waste Sites
The eco-freaks will go gaga over this. It’s not possible! Trump’s evil EPA is doing everything possible to swamp this country in toxic waste.
Since Trump took office in January 2017, EPA officials have cleaned up all or part of 13 listed sites, compared with nine sites cleaned up by the Obama administration in 2015 and 2016.
A total of 1,345 sites remain on the Superfund list, according to the EPA.

The Experts Have Been Wrong About Lots of Things. Here’s a Sampling.
I love stuff like this. Tweaking “the experts” is amazingly fun. Check these out:
People whom we’ve trusted as experts have often been wrong beyond imagination, and it’s nothing new. Irving Fisher, a distinguished Yale University economics professor in 1929, predicted, “Stock prices have reached what looks like a permanently high plateau.” Three days later, the stock market crashed.
In 1945, regarding money spent on the Manhattan Project, Adm. William Leahy told President Harry S. Truman, “That is the biggest fool thing we have ever done. The [atomic] bomb will never go off, and I speak as an expert in explosives.”
In 1903, the president of the Michigan Savings Bank, advising Henry Ford’s lawyer not to invest in Ford Motor Co., said, “The horse is here to stay, but the automobile is only a novelty—a fad.” Confidence in the staying power of the horse was displayed by a 1916 comment of the aide-de-camp to Field Marshal Douglas Haig at a tank demonstration: “The idea that cavalry will be replaced by these iron coaches is absurd. It is little short of treasonous.”
Albert Einstein predicted: “There is not the slightest indication that nuclear energy will ever be obtainable. It would mean that the atom would have to be shattered at will.” In 1899, Charles H. Duell, the U.S. commissioner of patents, said, “Everything that can be invented has been invented.” Listening to its experts in 1936, The New York Times predicted, “A rocket will never be able to leave the Earth’s atmosphere.”
To prove that it’s not just academics, professionals, and businesspeople who make harebrained predictions, Hall of Fame baseball player Tris Speaker’s 1919 advice about Babe Ruth was, “Taking the best left-handed pitcher in baseball and converting him into a right fielder is one of the dumbest things I ever heard.” For those of us not familiar with baseball, Babe Ruth was one of the greatest outfielders who ever played the game.
The world’s greatest geniuses are by no means exempt from out-and-out nonsense. Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) was probably the greatest scientist of all time. He laid the foundation for classical mechanics; his genius transformed our understanding of physics, mathematics, and astronomy.
What’s not widely known is that Newton spent most of his waking hours on alchemy. Some of his crackpot experiments included trying to turn lead into gold. He wrote volumes on alchemy, but after his death, Britain’s Royal Society deemed that they were “not fit to be printed.”
Then there’s mathematical physicist and engineer Lord Kelvin (1824-1907), whose major contribution was in thermodynamics. Kelvin is widely recognized for determining the correct value of absolute zero, approximately minus 273.15 degrees Celsius or minus 459.67 degrees Fahrenheit. In honor of his achievement, extremely high and extremely low temperatures are expressed in units called kelvins.
To prove that one can be a genius in one area and an idiot in another, Kelvin challenged geologists by saying that Earth is between 20 million and 100 million years old. Kelvin predicted, “X-rays will prove to be a hoax.” And he told us, “I can state flatly that heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible.”
The point of all this is to say that we can listen to experts but take what they predict with a grain or two of salt.

5 Ways Uncle Sam Could Ruin Your Summer Road Trip
All set for that fun summer trip? Off to see wondrous and beautiful parts of America. But, just beware of some deep pitfalls.
If you’re planning a wholesome cross-country adventure, beware: Uncle Sam has over-packed the federal code with more criminal laws and regulations than anyone can count. Here are a few ways that excess legal baggage could ruin a road trip.
1. Peanut Smuggling
2. Littering Laws
3. Bug Swatting [One has to shake one’s head over this one]
4. An End to Bickering
5. Toy Troubles [Huh?]

Feds Can't Keep Track of Your Tax Dollars - The Error Rates Are Staggering
Hell, nobody can even tell us how many different entities there are in the Executive Branch. How can they tell us how, when, and where the money is being spent?
Under the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act (DATA), agencies are required by law to submit their spending records to USAspending.gov.
However, a review of just 25 of the 96 federal agencies shows more than half of the information submitted, 55 percent, was either incomplete, inaccurate or both.
That adds up to $240 billion of government spending unaccounted for.

DAG Rosenstein’s Impeachment Articles Filed
The Speaker hasn’t acted on it yet so it doesn’t have an H.R. number so I can’t find it on https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/ But I will keep an eye on it to see just what happens.
"Multiple times we’ve caught DOJ officials hiding information from Congress, withholding relevant documents, or even outright ignoring Congressional subpoenas—and now we have evidence that Mr. Rosenstein signed off on a document using unverified political opposition research as a cornerstone of a FISA application to spy on an American citizen working for the Trump campaign," Meadows' statement continued.
Congressional August “vacation” to start Friday (July 27) and they won’t come back until September. Wouldn’t it be great to have a work schedule like they do?

These are Occupy ICE Protesters
I don’t need to comment on this.
These champions of the Left must have done a poor job because they left a mess so large that the city had to hire private contractors to clean up it up. Videos of the encampment show garbage, large structures, mattresses, clothing, and portable toilets.
The mess has even raised safety and biohazard concerns.

In the encampment, police found large structures, nails, needles, and feces.

Obama Knowingly Funded Designated Al-Qaeda Affiliate
We’re learning more and more about the Kenyan Muslim every day. When are Americans going to awaken to what this man has done to this country?
A new report released on Wednesday revealed that the Obama administration knowingly provided an Islamic terrorist-financing organization with hundreds of thousands of dollars despite the fact that the group had been designated as a terrorist-financing organization for a decade by the U.S. government.
Obama officials approved the release of well over $100,000 even after they were informed that the Khartoum-based Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA) was affiliated with Osama bin Laden and Maktab al-Khidamat (MK), which eventually became al-Qaeda.
ISRA, also referred to as the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), received a $200,000 taxpayer-funded grant from the Obama administration, which released at least $115,000 to the terrorist-financing organization. National Review reports:

ICE is cracking down on employers of illegal aliens… for real
About damned time! The best and fastest way of stopping illegal immigration is to ensure they know they will not be welcomed here. No welfare and no jobs. And a lot will return home.
If you’re an employer who is in the habit of looking the other way when a job applicant can’t prove they are in the country legally, there’s a good chance that you received an unexpected visit from ICE over the past few months. In a recent press release from the agency, we learned that the second phase of a nationwide operation cracking down on employers of illegal aliens just concluded. ICE examined the records of more than 5,000 employers and wound up making a number of arrests. (ICE.gov)
Do you know someone who’s hiring illegals. Give ICE a call and see if they’ll do something about it.
And yes, it IS “illegal” and NOT “undocumented” as per the Department of Justice.

Toronto shooting rampage – new details emerge about jihadi Faisal Hussain
Before I even heard his name, I knew this was a Muslim jihadist attack that the Canadians tried to hush up.
TORONTO — Canadian investigators were digging Tuesday into the life of the 29-year-old man who opened fire on restaurants and cafes in a popular Toronto neighborhood, seeking to explain what prompted the rampage that killed a 10-year-old girl and a young woman and wounded 13 others. Investigators in Canada have indications that Faisal Hussain visited Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) websites and may have expressed support for the terrorist group, a law enforcement source told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton.
Investigators are looking into whether Hussain may have lived at one time in Afghanistan and possibly Pakistan, the source said. There is no indication that Hussain was directed by ISIS to carry out the attack.
At this stage, based on the state of the investigation, which is led by the Toronto police service, there is no connection between that individual and national security,” Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale said Tuesday.
The last statement shows just how out of touch with reality the Canadians are. Just like their Brit compatriots.

South Korean firm backs off $133B 'treasure ship' claim amid probe
Oops! The exciting “discovery” seems to be a bit on the shaky side.
A South Korean treasure hunting company walked back its claim Thursday of having found a sunken Russian warship filled with $133 billion worth of gold as financial regulators began investigating whether the outlandish tale involved stock market fraud.
The Seoul-based Shinil Group is now saying it doesn't know if gold would be found inside the sunken vessel, identified as the Dmitrii Donskoi – a Russian warship built in the 1880s that sank in 1905 during the war with Japan.

London Heat Wave – 1937!
Seems the current “climate change” extreme heats in Europe are nothing new. They’ve been around before.
And there seems to have been another in 1976

I think it’s hilarious. But, on the other hand, they probably know lots of stuff about current technology their parents have no idea about.
