News That's Hard to Find for July 22, 2018

For the People”
That’s the brilliant DimocRAT slogan for the 2018 mid-terms.
Thrilling, isn’t it?
Heather Caygle reports at Politico:
House Dems unveil new midterm campaign slogan
House Democrats have finalized their campaign slogan heading into the last months before the midterm election: “For the People.”
The new motto, which Democratic leaders unveiled in a private meeting with members Wednesday morning, is meant to put a finer point on the broad economic-based messaging Democrats have been pushing with mixed success since last summer. That initial message — a “Better Deal” — has largely failed to break through with voters and has been openly mocked by some Democratic lawmakers.
House Democrats plan to begin working “For the People” into their statements and press conferences, with a focus on three key areas: addressing health care and prescription drug costs; increasing wages through infrastructure and public works projects; and highlighting Republican corruption in Washington.
They’re super confident in this message, too:
I don’t think any of us are claiming this is poetic or this is the end-all-be-all of messaging,” Bustos said. “It’s just a way, in a quick way, to put together the answer to what we stand for.”

Flaky Senator Tries to Subpoena Helsinki Translator
Something that has never been done before in 200 years.
Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday blocked a move to subpoena the translator from the Helsinki summit.

Rep. Thomas Massie Condemns ‘Pay-to-Play’ Rules in Congress
I’ve seen this report before but it gets buried under a rock for some reason. It’s totally disgusting and involves both parties.
Massie explained that committee assignments in the House of Representatives are based on how much money GOP members can raise for the National Republican Congressional Committee and Democrats for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
This requirement forces lawmakers to raise more money than they need for re-election campaigns in order to get committee assignments that cover issues of more specific concern to their districts. Among the results is that the desirability of committees becomes based on how much money lobbyists are likely to give to members of the respective panels.
Can you believe this? Where is the Freedom Caucus on this?

Trump Signs Executive Order Jump-Starting Business in America
The headline appears to be great. But, digging into the article does what always happens, the headline is slightly skewed from reality. As much as I support the president, I have to say this:
All he did was sign an order to establish yet another group of so-called experts to study a way of getting more people into the workforce. A lot of words but no actual action .
We’re also establishing an outside advisory board of industry leaders and experts, which we will announce in the coming weeks, very shortly. A lot of people want to be on that board very badly. I have some great people going on that board,” the president continued.
Maybe this will have an effect?
Today, 23 companies and associations are pledging to expand apprenticeships. That’s an interesting word for me to be saying, right? ‘The Apprentice.’ I never actually put that together until just now. That was a good experience, I will tell you that. Isn’t that strange? Ivanka, I never associated — but here we are. Can’t get away from that word. That’s a great word for on the job training and vocational education.”

Federal Court Hands Trump a Win, Rogue Agency Brought Under Tighter Control
Congress designed the Fair Housing Finance Agency to be a politically independent entity empowered to create and enforce rules, while also overseeing operations at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and nursing them back to financial health.
But Congress also took away the president’s authority over an agency of the executive branch and that is what the court shut down.
While the government defended the agency’s constitutionality by relying on a long list of independent agencies that have withstood constitutional challenges before — including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Office of the Independent Counsel — the court found the Fair Housing Finance Agency’s “unique constellation of insulating features offends the Constitution’s separation of powers.”
How the hell can they operate entirely independent?
At the 5th Circuit’s direction, the district court will now have to strike the provision of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 that limits the president’s power to fire the Fair Housing Finance Agency director, thus “restoring executive branch oversight to the [agency].”
As a result, the president will soon be able to tell the agency’s director, “You’re fired.”

Almost all the outrage, indignation and uproar you see is completely phony

Of course it is! Anyone with a bit of sense can see how so many DiocRATs are totally ignoring past remarks completely opposite from what they’re saying now. Just do a bit of research if you don’t agree. Here’s part of the article I found right on:
But they were never upset. Not for one second. When this happened, they got excited, exchanged high-fives and went to work.
Even the supposed sadness and shock you heard from the Today Show crew over Matt Lauer’s piggishness was fake. It was for show. These people knew perfectly well the sort of thing Lauer was doing. He was doing it all right in the office and they all knew about it. But they had to act upset for you so you would take their cue, and more importantly, not assign them guilt by association.
None of this is real. Democrats are not upset about the plight of the poor. Republicans are not upset about “the troops” being disrespected. These are boxes to check and lines to deliver so you will believe they care. They don’t care.
Throughout this country you will find real people who have real emotions and care about real things. When they seem mad, they’re really mad. When they seem sad, they’re really sad. When they appear to hurt, they really hurt, and you should help them. This is the real America.
But the politicians and media figures you see on TV have none of that sincerity. They are as fake as the day is long, because they’re trying to appear to be virtuous – to impress you – rather than being virtuous for real.

Israel's Aquarius Engine: The Wave of the Future?
This is the first I’ve heard of this but it certainly sounds interesting. An engine with only one moving part? Examining the picture raises one question – if only one moving part, what is all the rest of that stuff for? I could get anything on a search.
He explained that if you could see a cross section of the engine, you would see a cylinder with a double-sided piston that slides from side to side. When the engine creates an explosion on the left side, that pushes the piston to the right and an explosion on the right side will put the piston to the left.

Forcing the use of aborted babies in vaccines
I’m shocked by this – if it’s true.
Unfortunately, when you go to the doctor and get your vaccination, you get a shot, which you probably thought was held to the same standards. Except if you’re Catholic and actually care about abortion, this isn’t true, because a large number of the vaccinations out there are built from aborted baby stem cells.
The above link contains a detailed list of what vaccines made like this have been approved by the FDA. 23 of them!

Net Neutrality’ Has Been In Effect For One Month. Are You Dead Yet?
Other than the fact that my internet provider had a crappy connection and then let the net go down for several hours, I haven;t noticed a thing.
You?
After just three short, halcyon years, President Trump’s FCC chairman Ajit Pai repealed the burdensome regulations on December 14, 2017. Hollywood celebrities leapt to the defense of their countrymen not already dead from tax cuts and declared the Internet over. Some insisted the rule change would lead Twitter to charge users per tweet. The ACLU warned the repeal could lead to “erosion of the biggest free speech platform the world has ever known.”

Austria to stop offering driving tests in Turkish
Why did they offer them in the first place?
Out of 8.8 million people living in Austria, some 360,000 are of Turkish origin, including around 117,000 Turkish citizens. While the overwhelming majority of Austrian residents take the test in German, Turkish is still the second-most popular language among the applicants, ahead of English (2,301 in 2017), Croatian (2,112) and Slovenian (139).

Moroccan police to patrol Paris streets to tackle Muslim migrant gangs in no-go zones
Wow! The French can’t control their own streets?
After all the reports of crimes and violence including burning parked cars, it’s clear they can’t.
Following an agreement between France and Morocco, several Moroccan police officers are scheduled to be sent to Paris to help deal with young delinquent migrants.
A total of four officers from the North African country are set to patrol the Goutte d’Or neighbourhood of Paris — where many migrants live on the streets — alongside their French counterparts to combat the growing problems with violence, drugs, and prostitution, BFMTV reports.
According to police, the number of crimes since 2017 in the neighbourhood has increased drastically due to the presence of the young Moroccans and police had made 813 arrests of migrants in Goutte d’Or in the past year.
The Moroccan police will not only be supporting French officers but also attempting to identify migrants for deportation back to Morocco.

Saharan Dust Storms May Reduce Hurricanes
Some places can surely be happy about this.
It means fewer storms and even hurricanes are less likely to strike when the dust is present.
"The Saharan dust will reflect and absorb sunlight, therefore reduce the sunlight at the Earth's surface," said Pan.
"If we have more frequent and severe dust storms, it's likely that we have a cooler sea surface temperature and land surface temperature. The storms have less energy supply from the colder surface therefore will be less severe."
The study goes on to show that dust and storm formation don't mix.
"Our results show significant impacts of dust on the radiative budget, hydrological cycle, and large-scale environments relevant to tropical cyclone activity over the Atlantic," said Zhang.

Yellowstone
A new TV series on the Paramount channel staring Kevin Costner.
An honest to God shoot ‘em up, cowboys and Indians western set in the 21st Century. The grand rancher versus an Indian chief who wants to reclaim his land and both against a greedy land developer who wants to turn the land into a planned community.
One son is married to an Indian whose brother shots his brother and he kills in turn, trying to hide it from his wife. A daughter who is responsible for her mother’s death, is buried in the depths of alcoholism and decides to take a bath in a horse trough in front of the hands – stark naked.
Just some samples.
I really like it.
