What US Troops On The Border Really Need To Know
This website has an article by a 30 year Marine colonel who says we have no business sending troops to the border. I commented that it was so much bovine excrement.
Now comes this article from the same site. It, at least, makes some sense and here’s his info:
Maj. Walter Haynes is a student at the German Bundeswehr General Staff Academy. He most recently served as the Civil Affairs Officer for 2/75 Infantry (Ranger). The views expressed here are the author’s and do not reflect the official policy or position of the Department of Defense or any of its components, or the U.S. government.
Hope to heck he doesn’t get dinged for it.
Here’s what he has to say that makes one hell of a lot of sense:
A frequent characteristic of soldiering is getting sent on missions whose purpose you don’t understand or whose utility you question — I’m reminded in particular of being a young infantry platoon leader chasing cigarette smugglers on the Iraqi-Syrian border. But, the men and women I’ve served with understood this fact. Despite grumbling about how the higher-ups ‘just don’t get it,’ I could always rely on them to execute their mission professionally.
Oh boy is that ever right on target!
He then says that leaders deployed to the border need to consider the following:
1. You are not on your own.
2. Don’t just know the law, make sure your troops do [too]
3. Instill responsible use of social media in your formation
4. Don’t be afraid to answer your troops’ questions about the mission
5. Encourage your men and women to vote [altho how are they going to do that if they’re away from home on Nov 6?]
Until our nation’s politics take a less vitriolic turn, the men and women in the Armed Forces will continue to be sent on contentious assignments, under high visibility, in difficult situations. There is no surer way for the military to squander the nation’s trust than to apply anything less than the highest professional and ethical standards to these efforts.

US Militia Groups Are Headed To The Southwest Border Despite Pentagon Concerns
This comes from a hack reporter for a Texas newspaper.
FALFURRIAS, Tex. — Gun-carrying civilian groups and border vigilantes have heard a call to arms in President Donald Trump’s warnings about threats to American security posed by caravans of Central American migrants moving through Mexico. They’re packing coolers and tents, oiling rifles and tuning up aerial drones, with plans to form caravans of their own and trail American troops to the border.
Border vigilantes.” Typical Leftist bovine excrement. These are American citizens protecting their homes and their countries.
We’ll observe and report, and offer aid in any way we can,” said Shannon McGauley, a bail bondsman in the Dallas suburbs who is president of the Texas Minutemen. McGauley said he was preparing to head for the Rio Grande in coming days.
We’ve proved ourselves before, and we’ll prove ourselves again,” he said.
Who better to help than those who live in and know the area. And, even if militias are coming from other areas, why not?
My concern is the biggest gap in this defense plan, the New Mexico southern border that is being left wide open by Susana Martinez, the Republican governor of the state. At least I haven’t read anything about her activating the NM National Guard.
12,000 People: That’s How Many Now Make Up the Migrant Caravans @ https://www.lifezette.com/2018/11/12000-people-thats-how-many-now-make-up-the-migrant-caravans/

Under-Reported Details of the Migrant Caravans
Snowflakes keep demanding that we believe the caravans are only made up of poor women and children fleeing the terrible hardships of their homelands.
Bovine excrement!
Here’s the unvarnished truth:
1) The migrant caravan is made up mostly of young, adult men.
While most mainstream media outlets will highlight pictures and quotes of young children and women in distress, the reality is that 70% of the group are young, adult males. In fact, there are so many strong-bodied men in the caravans that “men are pushing women and children to the front of the mass of people to use them as ‘human shields’ against the police and military who tried to block their progress.”
2) The migrant caravan houses members outside of Central America and even from the Middle East, with the potential of some terrorists.
Recently, the Department of Homeland Security revealed that individuals from more than 20 countries were discovered in the caravans, with representation from Somalia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. Additionally, there have been reports of individuals from Haiti and India. Some of these countries are known hotbeds for Islamic terrorism.
3) The migrant caravan contains members who have criminal records.
In the same report provided by DHS, it was listed that at least 270 members had been formally convicted of crimes in the United States, ranging from child sexual assault to armed robbery. This figure does not include those who have committed crimes in their own country as well as those who have committed crimes throughout their journey to the U.S. border.
4) The migrant caravan consists of violent and disruptive members.
Members of the migrant caravans continue to confront Mexican authorities in dangerous ways. Reports indicate migrants have been throwing Molotov cocktails, rocks, and even firing weapons at Mexican authorities to ensure their journey is not impeded.
Sure sounds like a whole lot more than innocent women and children.

Immunotherapy to Cure Cancer
Billions, maybe trillions, to cure a disease that will affect 40% of humans in their lifetime. We’ve heard all sorts of stuff about amazing “cures” and procedures, but most of them involve cutting or excruciating pain from drug treatments.
Could this truly be a breakthrough?
How immunotherapy helps recognise and destroy cancer
Approach one: CTLA-4 = Dendritic cells are antigens that the T-cell protein CTLA-4 would normally recognise as a threat. Cancer overstimulates the CTLA-4 which acts as a circuit breaker on this immune response
Jim Allison’s lab developed an antibody which blocked CTLA-4 allowing the T-cell attack on cancer to take place
Approach two: PD-1 = Cancer cells produce a molecule, PD-1, which prevents T-cells from recognising them as a threat. The inhibitor drug blocks the cancer’s ability to hide, allowing T-cells to destroy it
And then there’s another called T-Cell Transfer that I won’t try to summarize here. But, it too appears to be promising.
Is there a problem about this?
Of course. Scientific and medical types tend to do what they know and have used. They look at new breakthrough with askance and thus those procedures may not find their way into the use they should. Immunotherapy, according to this article, was first approached in 1994 but it has only been recently that it has been recognized as a usable form of cancer treatment.

Acting AG Matthew Whitaker Will Not Recuse Himself From Russia Probe
and Won’t Approve Democrat Subpoenas of President Trump
Lefties and Dims are already screaming that President Trump can’t appoint him as Acting AG. Many claim Deputy AG Rosenstein is the only one who can step in.
I’m just wondering if all the meetings the president has had with Rosenstein weren’t telling him he wasn’t going to step up to the AG slot.
Dims are calling him to recuse himself from the Mueller probe.
Why should he?
Here’s his comments on the Mueller probe:
According to a CNN article, Mueller’s investigators could be looking into financial records relating to the Trump Organization that are unrelated to the 2016 election. According to these reports, “sources described an investigation that has widened to focus on possible financial crimes, some unconnected to the 2016 election.” The piece goes on to cite law enforcement sources who say non-Russia-related leads that “involve Trump associates” are being referred to the special counsel “to encourage subjects of the investigation to cooperate.”
This information is deeply concerning to me. It does not take a lawyer or even a former federal prosecutor like myself to conclude that investigating Donald Trump’s finances or his family’s finances falls completely outside of the realm of his 2016 campaign and allegations that the campaign coordinated with the Russian government or anyone else. That goes beyond the scope of the appointment of the special counsel.
And, going a step further:
In fact, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s letter appointing special counsel Robert Mueller does not give Mueller broad, far-reaching powers in this investigation. He is only authorized to investigate matters that involved any potential links to and coordination between two entities — the Trump campaign and the Russian government. People are wrongly pointing to, and taking out of context, the phrase “any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation” to characterize special counsel’s authority as broad.
President Trump not planning to use resignation of Jeff Sessions to end Mueller probe @ https://www.oann.com/kellyanne-conway-president-trump-not-planning-to-use-resignation-of-jeff-sessions-to-end-mueller-probe/
Which leaves this, I’ve read where he Leftist husband is involved with something legal about Sessions resigning and Whitaker replacing him. How long will she last in the administration – or let her marriage come to a screeching halt?

Districts with Large Foreign-Born Populations Sent Far-Left Democrats to Congress
Does this surprise anyone? They supposedly come to make a better life and bring their socialist baggage with them. This exactly what the Globalist want.
Every year the U.S. admits more than 1.5 million foreign nationals, with the vast majority deriving from family-based chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. In 2016, the legal and illegal immigrant population reached a record high of 44 million. By 2023, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that the legal and illegal immigrant population of the U.S. will make up nearly 15 percent of the entire U.S. population.
And none of this includes districts where large number of illegals voted.

Canada among highest health-care spenders,
yet ranks near bottom on number of doctors, hospital beds and wait times
Another example of a less-than-sterling health care system.
VANCOUVER—Despite spending more on health care than the majority of developed countries with universal coverage, Canada has a relatively short supply of doctors and hospital beds—and the longest wait times, finds a new study released today by the Fraser Institute, an independent, non-partisan Canadian public policy think-tank.
There is a clear imbalance between the high cost of Canada’s health-care system and the value Canadians receive,” said Bacchus Barua, associate director of health policy studies at the Fraser Institute and co-author of Comparing Performance of Universal Health Care Countries, 2018.

Exciting new medical 'silver bullets' will save military lives
It always amazes me how the military so often takes the lead in finding ways to save lives. Chopper evacuation to front-line medical facilities in Korea. The Golden Hour and highly trained paramedics in Vietnam. And now these innovations:
French and Freeze Dried – Saving Lives from Bullets and Bombs
Small Pill to Stop #1 Infectious Disease Threat
Solutions for PTSD and beyond
Life-saving “biological products” may be an initial priority for this smart, new approach to getting effective solutions in the hands of warfighters as rapidly as possible, but there is definitely a commitment to use the law’s expanded opportunities to give lots of different types of solutions tackling a wide array of challenges a well-deserved push.

Record number of pay-TV watchers cut the cord
I would drop my Cox in a second if there was an alternative. As I’m retired and disabled, watching TV and surfing the internet are my only two time-filling things. One thing about this; maybe the cable/dish companies will be forced to lower prices to keep customers.
By the numbers: More than 80% of pay-TV subscribers in the U.S. come from four cable and satellite providers: AT&T, Comcast, Charter and Dish. Those companies together lost 887,000 subscribers this quarter, mostly driven by big losses at Dish and AT&T.
Dish lost 367,000 customers, its highest quarterly loss ever, after cutting access to Univision amid a months-long carriage-fee dispute that is still unresolved.
AT&T lost 359,000 subscribers for the quarter, far surpassing analyst estimates of 245,000 subscribers lost.

A Better Toilet to Save Millions of Lives
Uh, oh really? I know Bill Gates has gotten himself involved in some really weird projects. But toilets?
At a foundation-backed Reinvented Toilet Expo in Beijing this week, Gates took the stage with a helpful visual aid: a mason jar full of poop. “This expo showcases, for the first time, radically new, decentralized sanitation technologies and products that are business-ready,” he said. “It’s no longer a question of if we can reinvent the toilet and other sanitation systems. It’s a question of how quickly this new category of off-grid solutions will scale.” According to a press release, the foundation is invested in 20 toilet technologies it now deems ready for widespread use.
Gates’ foundation has put $200 million into reinventing the toilet. And he’s going to put up $200 million more.
Anyone here like a piece of that with the idea that perhaps you can find a better way of getting rid of poop?
