NYC $15 minimum wage hurting restaurants
Anyone surprised?
Gabriela’s isn’t alone. In a survey of 324 full-service restaurants, the New York City Hospitality Alliance found that 76.5 percent of respondents cut staff hours and 36.3 percent eliminated jobs, including whole layers of middle management, in response to mandated wage increases.
It’s death by a thousand cuts,” says Andrew Rigie, executive director of the group. “The minimum wage increases put pressure on small businesses. They are well-intended but unsustainable. There’s only so many times you can increase the price of a burger and a bowl of pasta.”
Philippe Massoud, CEO and executive chef of the Manhattan-based Lebanese eateries Ilili and Ilili Box, says rising wages have forced him to cut hours for his 180 employees, yank labor-intensive dishes from the menu and cut back on staff education events like wine seminars.
The rent doesn’t go down. The food doesn’t cost less. Customers aren’t going to pay higher prices.
What does the Loony Left expect?

Schiff staffer linked to Ukranian oil company that hired Hunter Biden
The dates of the pre-planned trip are instructive. Eager’s visit to Ukraine sponsored by the Burisma-sponsored Atlantic Council began 12 days after the so-called whistleblower officially filed his August 12 complaint about Trump’s request for Ukrainian assistance in investigating possible corruption related to the Burisma company and Joe and Hunter Biden.
And, while not included in this article, Stiff-Neck Schiff also had links to the Ukraine.

Are you ready for Real ID?
Do you even know what it is?
Nearly 40 percent of Americans don’t have a Real ID or any of the other forms of identification that will be required at airport security checkpoints come fall 2020, according to the survey by the U.S. Travel Association.
Even more troubling, the survey found, a majority of Americans — 57 percent — are not aware that beginning Oct. 1, 2020, the only driver’s licenses that will be accepted for boarding commercial flights will be those that meet federal Real ID requirements.
You can still use a passport or military ID at airports but a majority of travels have neither.
By law, states are mandated to issue IDs with counterfeit-resistant security features; applicants must provide several documents proving their identity and legal U.S. residency.
Seems TSA is going to start enforcing the law Oct 1, 2020. Estimates are that half a million people could be kept from flying the first week. A $40 million per day impact on the airlines.

Staying in Trump’s DC Hotel Does Not Equal Corruption
Why do so many international jet-setters, European diplomats, venture capitalists, and other well-heeled travelers stay at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.?
Could it have anything to do with the fact that it’s just better than virtually every other hotel in town?
What the Left doesn’t want to talk about.
According to Forbes, London has only 13 five-star hotels; Paris has 11; New York City has 10; and Hong Kong and Los Angeles are tied at seven apiece.
Washington, D.C., trails them all—badly. Our nation’s capital can claim only two five-star hotels: the swanky Four Seasons in Georgetown and the Trump International Hotel in the very heart of the city.
What does it take to earn a Forbes five-star rating? Nine factors: topnotch room service, beautiful beds, distinctive drinks, supreme service, memorable meals, thoughtful turndown of linens, helpful housekeeping, staff that expresses a genuine interest in guests, and exceeding expectations.
So, is Forbe strokinng the Trump people? Try this:
If you don’t want to believe the Forbes ratings, how about those done by U.S. News & World Report? That magazine awards five stars to nine hotels in Washington—and, yes, one of them is the Trump International.
It would seem to me that, if one travels the world First Class, they’re not about to seek lodging at a Holiday Inn. And then comes the following:
In 2013, three years before Trump was elected president, the General Services Administration signed a 60-year lease with the company. As a result, the government went from losing $6 million a year to gaining $3 million a year in rent. That’s a $9 million swing, a big net plus for taxpayers.
A pretty big plus for taxpayers.

Court Rulings on FCC’s Deregulatory Agenda are 1 Step Forward, 1 Step Back
Since his appointment as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Ajit Pai has pursued a broad-ranging agenda for regulatory reform.
The centerpiece of that agenda was the repeal of the Obama-era “net neutrality” rules on broadband internet providers. The repeal was mostly upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on Tuesday.
Responding to the president’s Executive Order calling on all federal agencies to get rid of old, outdated, and unconstitutional regulations.
Those rules, some of which date back to the 1940s, restrict cross-ownership of radio and television stations and newspapers.
In November 2017, the FCC rolled back many of those media ownership rules. One of them, a 1975 limitation on cross-ownership of newspapers and radio or TV broadcast stations, was repealed completely.
Other rules were modified, such as the cap on owning two TV stations in the same market unless there were at least eight other media outlets in the same community. The FCC replaced that automatic ban with a case-by-case consideration.
Of course, a federal judge has to step in to throw a monkey wrench into the works.
Under the act, the FCC was directed to review its rules biennially and eliminate those that are no longer needed.
The first such biennial review began in 1996, with the ownership rules high on the list of targeted regulations. But no decision had been reached by the time the second review began in 1998.
Again, no progress was made until 2002, when a reform package was adopted by the FCC. But that reform package was remanded back to the FCC for more study. Ditto in 2007.
The Sept. 23 decision by the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals was the third in a history of court decisions blocking reform.

Is it true that my ISP is spying on my web browsing?
According to this article, not just DuckGoGo protects from this. I’m using Firefox and this web address - https://www.quora.com/Is-it-true-that-my-ISP-is-spying-on-my-web-browsing-Does-DuckDuckGo-fix-that/answer/Gabriel-Weinberg – says my ISP cannot see the specific page I’m viewing.
Going back over the sites I’ve accessed today, all have the https in the url. I guess Firefox has the same protection protocols.
This plug for DuckGoGo is shown above.

A crisis in India to make you cry
A shortage of onions.
The onion is a staple vegetable for the poor, indispensable to many Indian cuisines and recipes, from spicy curries to tangy relishes.
"In Maharashtra, if there are no vegetables or you can't afford to buy vegetables, people eat 'kanda bhakari' [onion with bread]," explains food historian Dr Mohseena Mukadam.
Heavy rains and flooding have caused a shortage. And it’s become political when some producers were stopped from exporting the vegetable.
"The government is quick to act when onion prices rise. Why don't they act as swiftly when prices fall?" asked Vikas Darekar, an onion farmer in Maharashtra. He said the government should buy onions from farmers at a "fair price".

No more bathing suit issue?
What a loss that would be! Probably the most popular of Sports Illustrated every year.
Only four months after taking over Sports Illustrated, the publisher Authentic Brands is preparing to lay off up to 40 employees.
And they plan to replace them with contracted reporters.

Schiff won’t allow GOP committee members to question Ukraine witness
The Dims are unhinged and Long-Neck leads the way!
House Republicans are demanding an “equal playing field” in the Democrat-led impeachment probe against President Trump after Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said ahead of Thursday’s scheduled testimony from former U.S. envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker that GOP members of the Foreign Affairs Committee will not be permitted to ask questions or have equal representation during the session. [It helps when you get to rewrite the ‘rules’ for whistleblowers too.]
And we all know the media will ignore this serious breach of Congressional protocols and rules.
I’m not going to bother to go further on this. If you want to increase your anger, go to https://conservativedailypost.com/gop-not-permitted-to-ask-questions-or-have-equal-reps-during-session-with-ukraine-witness/

U.S. Air Force scientists developed liquid metal
For use in an incredible variety of ways.
Conductive materials change their properties as they are strained or stretched. Typically, electrical conductivity decreases and resistance increases with stretching.
The material recently developed by Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) scientists, called Polymerized Liquid Metal Networks, does just the opposite. These liquid metal networks can be strained up to 700%, autonomously respond to that strain to keep the resistance between those two states virtually the same, and still return to their original state. It is all due to the self-organized nanostructure within the material that performs these responses automatically.
It’s being done through universities and private companies and is available to the world.

US to sell $67.9 billion in weapons sale in FY 2019
This does not include follow-up support and maintenance programs for the equipment sold.
The number, spread across 64 individual procurement requests from 28 different countries and a NATO consortium, represents the second year in a row that the overall value of foreign military sales requests have slightly declined. But the total still represents almost double the total cleared by the State Department in fiscal year 2016.
But, here’s the kicker. These sales aren’t final until Congress approves them! And the House seems to be so busy trying to undo a valid presidential election that they will probably never get to approving them.

Trump Orders Cut to National Security Staff
He fires Bolton, hires O’Brien, and now want to reduce the 310 people working at the White House. Most will simply go back to their old jobs at the Pentagon, State, or various intelligence agencies.
A whole lot of empty desks and offices.

Rubio tells media “Trump is trolling you.
Marco Rubio speaking to the media filled them in on what Trump is doing: “He plays it like a violin, and everybody falls right into it.”
It takes him to tell them that? The rest of us have known this for over 2 years.
Agree it’s like a cat owner with a ball of string . The cat is the media and the owner is Trump LMFAO 😆😆😆 Greatest President Ever! pic.twitter.com/dmX1XzyHpS

What causes that stitch in your side after running?
The truth?
Doctors don’t have the faintest idea.
(sports chiropractor Brad) Muir says, is that there are so many different components of the problem, and not all of them apply to each case. Four people might come in with their pain on the right side, for example, and then the next three all have the problem on the left. Muir says that it’s rare to have no clear explanation for an abdominal pain. “It seems to be in a class almost of its own.”
Because we don’t know exactly what causes a side stitch, Muir says there’s no standard advice for how to prevent it. The best thing to start with, he says, is a quick rundown of your history: Did you drink a lot of water before that run where you had a particularly bad cramp? Is there something you usually eat on days you’ve had an issue? If you play a sport, he says, the next step might be to have someone check out your form, and make any biomechanical adjustments.

They can no longer shut the public up at Texas meetings
Effective 1 September 2019, anyone can speak up at all government meetings (city councils, county commissions, school boards, hospital districts, public colleges) at the start of the meeting, at the end, and most important, before a vote is taken.
A government body may not prohibit public criticism of the government body, including criticism of any act, omission, policy, procedure, program or service.”

Audio Reveals Evidence of Collusion Between DNC and Ukraine to Help Hillary, Hurt Trump
Man admits he tried to boost the Democrat and sabotage the Republican
The audio appeared on Ukrainian media in 2017 but American media ignored it.
2017!
And the left is doing everything it can to cover it up now.
I don’t know how, but the Americans got an audio recording of Mr. Sytnik’s conversation: He is resting with his family & friends & discussing how he would like to help Hillary.”@glennbeck reveals the Ukraine transcript the media isn’t talking about.https://t.co/fZHzqMCZbV pic.twitter.com/9jyMLVwdEB

Ukrainian Ambassador Valeriy Chaly’s office provided written answers that revealed that Alexandra Chalupa, a DNC contractor, sought information on Paul Manafort; information she hoped to use to expose Manafort’s links to the country during the campaign, forcing the issue to be brought forward to Congress.
Ambassador Chaly said, “The embassy considered her requests an inappropriate solicitation of interference in the U.S. election.”

Young people want to undo their gender transition
Here’s how Sky News reported it: “Hundreds of young transgender people are seeking help to return to their original sex, a woman who is setting up a charity has told Sky News.”
Libertard adults forced children as young as 8 to undergo hormonal treatments to change their sex.
You won’t see the leftist Lame Street Media reporting this.

Donald Jr draws capacity crowd in Louisiana
Only 600 people but that was all the venue could hold.
He and Kimberly Guilfoyle appeared together Monday to support the GOP candidates Rep. Ralph Abraham (R-LA) and Eddie Rispone, ahead of President Trump’s upcoming Friday night rally in Louisiana.
And the opponents tried their best to show an empty room (filmed before anyone was allowed in).

GOP Holds Edge over Vulnerable Democrats in Swing Districts
A year to go until the 2020 elections so, while it seems encouraging, it’s not a cinch. Trump supporters are going to have to get out there and work to bring in undecideds and independents.
Internal polling from the NRCC indicates that voters in key swing districts prefer Republican candidates who oppose impeachment over Democrats who support it. NPR’s Susan Davis said that the House GOP was briefed on the matter and wrote, “Don’t expect any cracks in GOP unity” due to the internal polling’s findings.
The NRCC briefed House GOP on private polling conducted Oct. 1-3 in 95 districts (55 D / 40 GOP),” Davis wrote.
Don’t expect any cracks in GOP unity: memo concludes voters ‘are much more willing to vote for a GOP candidate opposing impeachment than a Democrat supporting it,'” she added:
Another skewed poll?
This has the president’s supporters and also independents engaged and in the campaign and supporting President Trump in ways that they were not doing before to this level of intensity, and we have Nancy Pelosi and the impeachment inquiry to thank for that,” Trump’s campaign communications director, Tim Murtaugh, said during a call with reporters on Monday afternoon.

President Trump is not withdrawing troops from Syria!
Once again, the media, his opponents, and even some of his so-called supporters can’t get it right.
A Senior White House official clarified Monday that President Donald Trump was not immediately withdrawing troops from Syria, after Trump’s phone call with the Turkish president.
This does not constitute a withdrawal from Syria. We’re talking about a small number of troops that will move to other bases within Syria,” the official noted, citing 50-100 troops in the region.
50 to 100 moving out of direct conflict areas.
That remains our ultimate goal, is to get American troops from the Middle East and to let the parties in the region determine their own future,” he said. “But this is not the time for any such move right now. We’re moving 50 troops within Syria.

Older Americans Are Increasingly Unwilling — Or Unable — To Retire
The author is an NPR correspondent and her bias about how the economy is going is very clear in the title of her piece.
Statistics show that there may be more people like him in the near future. About 1 in 4 adults age 65 and older is now in the workforce. That number is expected to increase, making it the fastest-growing group of workers in the country.
Then follows a series of hard luck tales designed to back the negative part of the story’s title.
There is increasing evidence that having a sense of purpose pays dividends for older adults — for example, increasing longevity and reducing the risks of cognitive decline. But volunteering has another big payoff: The work of older volunteers has an economic value of more than $73 billion annually, according to the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Let’s face it. Once you get around all the leftist tripe presented by authors like this, there is a simple truth why people hesitate to “retire” today; it’s because we still have a lot of productive years ahead of us and don’t want to turn them away. We have years of experience and knowledge that we can profitably share with the world.
So, why should we curl up and prepare to die in some hidden away nook?

We Need Each Other’: Seniors Are Drawn to New Housing Arrangements
Older Americans are exploring housing alternatives, including villages and home-sharing.
And they’re not talking about the typical retirement home.
A primer: Shared housing matches people who have unused space with people who need housing; typically, at least one party is age 60 or older. Sometimes the arrangement involves simply rent and companionship, but sharers can also agree on lower rent in exchange for grocery shopping, dog walking, driving or other services.
Another way is Cohousing - A like-minded community forms, then looks into acquiring land and building a housing complex (or occasionally, converting a building) where members can live together.
Though their homes are smallish, residents also share a common house for communal meals, classes and meetings, plus gardens and outdoor walkways designed to encourage socializing.
The village movement, comprises 280 organizations in towns, cities, neighborhoods and even apartment complexes, and is growing by 20 percent a year, said Barbara Hughes Sullivan, national director of the Village to Village Network.
